It sometimes depends on your FC, depends if all the sensors are built into the OSD, or if it gets some info from the board, some just get power and go inline with the video wire.

Helicopters use rotors, not props, they almost always say clock wise or counter colocwise somewhere, there are just many ways to say it. Them may call them regular rotation or a few other names.

You now have me thinking about making my build able to switch from the FPV cam to the recording cam xD. You could use an Arduino to make the switch when either a auxiliary button on the Tx is pressed or if you do a special action with the sticks.

Neil has a Phantom and may be of more use. As for converting the video to mp4; i just downloaded a program that will convert multiple at once, I don't remember the name, and am pretty sure it only works on Linux, but a quick google search should yield some results. @holtneil

You can use them as 2s or 4s, you might try your flight times as both 2s2p and 4s1p, the 4s1p should give you better performance and stability. If you have a pack of XT60 ends, some heatshrink, and wires you can make both series and parallel adapters.

It should be fine, if your ESC and motors support 2S. If they support 4S you could pair 2 2S batteries is series.

You could get a really nice controller for that price range, and many people do. The Turnigy 9Xr Pro is also nice, if you get the modules and receivers it is around 150$, if you might need 9 channels this may be better for you.

Do you want a gimbal to move the camera? The Runcam does not have the option to control from the ground.
