Hello. I am new to this forum and also to flying quadcopters. I have not actually flown one yet.

I am doing some research for a friend who is using his quadcopter in a professional capacity; He is
having a few issues with his copter. I am going to list each issue in this post (instead of making seperate posts)

Model: DJI Phantom 2 Vision

Video: There has been some issues with this lately. Videos being recorded but unable to be viewed on laptop or uploaded to Youtube. Basically, it seems necessary to convert the video to an MP4 first (Something Youtube used to do automatically in the past). We shot a video test last night and video is recording correctly and being saved to a new memory card. My question: What is the best method to convert a video file to MP4? Also, are there any known issues/bugs in relation to video capture/display?

Altimeter: (I do not have a model or serial for this yet) An altimeter has been purchased but the problem seems to be setting it correctly before flying; As I have been told, it cannot be set to zero. Is there a particular method to setting an altimeter correctly? The altimeter will be attached to the copter's camera view and its data captured in real-time for documentation purposes.

I am doing further research on the Internet for answers to these questions but any links or a pointer in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

Neil has a Phantom and may be of more use. As for converting the video to mp4; i just downloaded a program that will convert multiple at once, I don't remember the name, and am pretty sure it only works on Linux, but a quick google search should yield some results.

I had the altimeter problem before, however, it worked itself out on it's own after a few flights. So, I can't be of much help on that issue. However, I do have a great video converter program to recommend. It's Video To Video Converter (VTV), and is a free download from their website. I'm confused, lately infers this is a recent development. So in the past this was not an issue?

No, as far as I understand, it has been a recent event, not being able to play the video. The copter as far as I know has never had any issues with capturing video data or playing data from memory card until recently.

Hi guys sorry late in this chat, has the sd card got corrupted ,you can try and format the card, I and George use VCL player it will play any format and is free and will keep its self up to date

Use this link , another thing is to make sure you stop recording then turn off if you power off first it will corrupt the file

Apps like Norton aren't very good at detecting most scumware. The authors of these apps always test them on the major players, like Norton to make sure they can squeak through. With Freemake you need to choose 'Custom' when installing and try to opt out of the junk .

A few tidbits from Cnet users.

"... Even if you are very careful to uncheck all the crapware & monetizers during install, it still installs Rollaround Adware, which gives you tons of ad pop-ups."

"Shame on you CNET for offering software that serves up so much malware! I have spent hours cleaning my computer from the malware laced in Freemake. Beware everyone!"

"Installs more malware than you can shake a stick at, even when you untick all the options. Zone Alarm did warn me and I know enough to know better. It probably took me 4 hours to clean up, it hijacks Firefox, deletes all search engines, renders it useless (tries to DNS redirect) and disabled the scan function on ZA. Malwarebytes found 17 pieces of junk."

FWIW I use an older version of Malwarebytes, (1.75.0.1300, in Updater Settings uncheck update program, just allow new definitions) that is really good at scumware (as opposed to virus) elimination. The newer 'free' version works well, but it constantly nags and updates to get you to pay.

Be worth trying it to see what is hidden under the hood. You might be surprised at all that it finds.

eww - yeah, will do that.

i did do a custom install and turned off most of the rubbish, but will check. Shame really, the program itself does what it does very well.

I don't use antivirus on any of my machines, but when I do customer's computer I install AVG and Ccleaner. AVG is an antivirus, and Ccleaner will remove a lot of junk, also I like to use defraggler from AVG. My main machine is Linux, so no antivirus, or derangementer (ext file systems don't get fragmented unless full)

ran Malwarebytes on both machines I'd installed it on. Not too bad, nothing that obviously came from Freemake, though there were plenty of potentially unwanted programs which I've now nuked.

One genuine malware found, coming from cutehtml - hmm, been using that for years, not good.
