Sounds like the throttle range/gains are different on the new firmware. What quadcopter/flight controller is this for and can you provide links? @Jackson may be of a little more help if this is toy grade.

What about middle wire to the either the shiny piece that looks like a sawtooth sine wave, or the piece that looks like a sawtooth sine wave with the soldermask that the arrow is pointing to? And the ground to the ground plane?

Can you give links to the motors, and ESCs? I think the quadcopter is unbalanced, try balancing it from diagonal motors and move the battery until it feels balanced

Flysky or Frysky?, anyways their cheaper stuff don't always have fail-safes, if you loose signal your out of luck, it will continue on. Ad they are cheap knockoffs of Frysky.
