Prop question

1. While browsing for different ones I notice sometimes they have a LH and RH designation while others do not.

Do you need and a LH and RH prop? If you do, then why aren't all props listed with a LH or RH designation?

How do you determine which ones go with which motor. ie Is RH for the CW rotating motor or the CCW?


2. What would you recommend for a mid priced set for someone just starting. The E-props have pretty good reviews. Also what is your source for buying them?

Hi mate yes you need cw and ccw props , RH or LH rotation , slow fly props are good will give you a nice lift , plastic are ok if your going to crash a lot as they are cheap but they will flex and can snap due to stress fractures on the under side of the blades next to the hub it will show up as a white mark, nylon mix are a bit tougher but chip easy , Carbon are the best once you can fly and not crash as much

Thanks!!! Totally confused on prop orientation and that Video made it real clear. A couple of follow ups though

1. So does cw = RH and ccw = LH rotation?

2. If props are NOT sold in pairs or do not say RH/LH or CW/CCW are they probably meant for helicopters or planes?

Helicopters use rotors, not props, they almost always say clock wise or counter colocwise somewhere, there are just many ways to say it. Them may call them regular rotation or a few other names.

What do you think about the E-props from Graupner? , I have used them but found they dont give me the lift I want , they sound nice when they cut the air , but Slow Fly will give you loads of lift , This is my old 450 with Slow Fly 10x4.5 plastic props your see the wallow its so bad the quad hit the ground when it was ment to stop to a hover , so I used carbon fibre 10x4.7 after, but you can see that it flys great on the slow fly the same quad on graupner props needed 80% throttle to take off , slow fly needs 50% the 10x4.5 and on the 10x4.7 will lift at under 40%
