Controller/radio help!

So as of right now I only have 1 quad with a second cheapo in the mail. However, I am looking to get something better. What I'm looking for a radio that can control a quadcopter, and a boat and maybe even a 4x4 truck at somepoint. I live near a lot of ponds and lakes, my first RC was a small "speed" boat. So I'd like to get a better RC speed boat. However I am totally hooked on quadcopters now. So I'm looking for advice on getting some kind of universal radio that can control say a DJI phantom and a speed boat without breaking the bank.

I'm fairly new to RC so any links, advice, anything would be appreciated. Also I know these things are not cheap, but some are WAY more then others. $1000 would be the most I could spend on a good radio, I see plenty that are far less, and far more. I don't know what I need so yeah..

AS GJH said as long as they are scratch built you just gotta buy extra receivers. Even some of the cheapest TXs can store 10 models in memory (with their respective individual programming), with each model locked in to a specific TX.

I stated in my first post, my price range is no more then $1000. Witch really is a fortune to me. However, I am willing to spend the money. I was thinking of getting a Traxxas Spartan because for one it's in my price range, and two, I am somewhat of a Traxxas fan boy. I have owned 2 Traxxas Trucks, a Stampede and a T-Maxx. (for a short time)

Also my Alias is an offshoot of Traxxas in a way. LaTrax is actually an older company then Traxxas if I'm not mistaken. All I really know is the Alias has some affiliation with Traxxas, and I love my Alias, so yeah.

Wow that seems to be exactly what I'm looking for! Man, my prices on controllers is dated. That's a good thing though! I was expecting to pay 800-1000 for anything decent. Thanks man, you really are the best!

You could get a really nice controller for that price range, and many people do.

The Turnigy 9Xr Pro is also nice, if you get the modules and receivers it is around 150$, if you might need 9 channels this may be better for you.
