    Moving from Syma X5UW

The Bugs 8 has no GPS, but adds a 5.8 Ghz FPV video transmitter which will have decidedly better range than the WiFi (2.4 Ghz) FPV. It's designed as an FPV sport flyer (I don't buy that it's any kind of a 'racer', even a beginner one, since it only has stabilized flight mode, no acro mode). The...

    Moving from Syma X5UW

I was going to suggest either this quad or it's brother/sister the Bugs B2C.

    Moving from Syma X5UW

As far as the X5UW dying on your, this is nearly guaranteed to be one or more of the brushed motors, which you should expect to replace periodically. Replacing the motors is not a difficult job, and replacements are readily available. I would suggest you do a YouTube search on replacing the...

    Spectrum DX7s with Eachine x220S

You can put a compatible receiver in it if you buy the ARF version (no receiver). The RTF version has a FlySky FS-i6X transmitter and compatible receiver. It's a decent radio. I use one and like it, but I don't think anyone would try to argue that it's as good as your DX7.

    Newbie Intro Needs advice

I'm pretty conservative with distance on my Phantom 4, but I had it close to 1,000 meters away this morning with no video issue whatsoever and still showing full HD signal bars in my very signal-cluttered local environment. The P4 does have the Sony Lightbridge system, though. The P3 series has...

Moz, he's talking about a stock Phantom 3 standard, not building something.

JJRC H33 Review - A Really Good No Frills Budget Quadcopter

I have a suspicion you could stick some Syma X5HC props on that quad and get even a bit more zip out of it. Nice review.

...then read a million tests and reviews, and realize there is probably a better prop for your build. Buy some of those, and repeat the process!

Or it could be widely and commonly accepted terminology for making the motors active and controllable by throttle input, or making them not. ;) 'Arm' and 'Disarm' are the correct terms in this context.

For those having stability issues with Syma X8 series

By the way, there's not much wrong with the Syma X5 and X8 series except crap documentation. YouTube is your friend.

For those having stability issues with Syma X8 series

Probably time to post this again: Syma transmitter commands. Some are documented, some are not: Action / Command: Tx low-high power mode toggle / Hold right stick vertical trim up, turn Tx power on, bind, flashing bars = LOW, not flashing = HIGH Mode change / Hold right stick horizontal trim...

For those having stability issues with Syma X8 series

Start with the simplest step: calibrate the gyro's. Bind the quad, then with it on a level surface, hold both sticks down and to the right until the lights flash. This resets what the gyros interpret as level.

Continuing on my first hobby grade build.

Generally, I'd start with 2 blade props and change if you identify specific stability issues. For example the MJX Bugs 3 doesn't behave well in fast transitions from high to low power or high to low speed. It has a tendency to drop suddenly and not very predictably. It gets a lot worse if you...

    Husban X4 502e control issues

Chinese manufacturers don't seem to think it's necessary to write decent manuals. This was a shot in the dark based on some YouTube searches...glad it worked!
