    Will they progress?

Haha, even if/when I get good at flying I plan on using a wood/aluminium frame for acro and flying around stuff I may easily crash into. Something about not worrying about an expensive frame while you fly that allows you to have fun. If I get any, I may use spruce inserts/replacements for some...

    Ready to put together?

Batteries, Transmitter/Receiver combo. They also put a deans battery connector in the set , If your going to solder one on, IMHO a XT60 is better, as it is more compatible with more batteries OTS (Off The Shelf).

    Will they progress?

I completely agree with a wooden quad. I like the H design because it is simple, and easy. You could bring some zip-ties and pre-cut parts with you, that way if you crash you can repair it quickly on the field cheaply. I started on aluminium, thinking it was going to be almost un-breakable...

    Storm Drone 6 Questions

On another important note, you don't want to charge a LiPo in a cold environment and take to a warmer environment. This causes it to react in a way that it will catch fire if charged to full. Many Lipo chargers have a storage setting, but you can simply a just your voltage alarm to tell you...

    Will they progress?

You can get a little racing quad for around $340, you can build a 370mm Quadw/FPV for a little under $500.

I could give you an essay on how, but this is probably better. Watch the second video, it has some additional useful information.

    First Build Questions : ESC's & Batteries

Flashing is a term used to refer to reprogramming a ROM chip. We used to use EPROM chips, which had a little window that could recolonize UV light. You put them in a little tanning bed like thing that you told how to flash it. This is why a firmware update is called flashing. We now use...

    Will they progress?

From what i can tell they are growing really quickly. FPV being the big push. I have met more and more people who know about them. The biggest common problem that I see with people I know is they think you need at least $2000 to get started.

Looking at it it does not say what chip it uses, so I don't know of any was of telling unless they have a schematic. Here is a post that may be of help on that.

New to quadcopters ... need some good info

I like how the ESC wires are under the arms, I had a ziptie break and a main power wire get clipped really hard.

First Build, Scared motor is damaged...

The wires are coated with an insulation, that keeps them from shorting and protects them from oxidation. It is likely that the motor will loose this pole if you have a hard crash, vibration, or if the resistance causes it to come apart at the thin spot in the coil. If you loose a pole you'd...

    Storm Drone 6 Questions

Yeah, you want 3.85 volts per cell is supposed to be ideal. The voltage wrote on your pack should be store voltage. My 3S has 11.1 volts on the side and charges at full to a little over 12. 11.1/3 = 3.7

First Build, Scared motor is damaged...

Haha, I wish you luck. The biggest limiting factor for me was that shipments took forever to come in. I started ordering in January, and did not get it in the air until Early this month (March). This was due to ordering the things needed to fly in two separate shipments.

First Build, Scared motor is damaged...

The copper coils won't corrode like the aluminium would. The coils used for motors do however have a thin coating on them that is non conductive. It could be burnt, if the motor runs fine, I'd not worry about it unless it gets unusually hot. If it gets hotter, then one of the wires could be...
