Please explain. Once again I am confused( big surprise). I admit I do not swap batteries with different voltages, but instead tried to apply logic to the process. I should know better.......Haha! Congrats on the new house Dangerousdave! Bigger yard/open spaces for flying?

I have used the MWC reptile frame before and it's not bad for the cost. Put 2 more stand offs along the frame midway between the arms and you will have a very hard time bending or twisting it. Add a couple pieces of CF reinforcement and it can be impressive. The Team Blacksheep arms look...

Something to consider when swapping from 3s to 4s and back is don't forget to adjust your FCB or Tx or both to get your throttle positions correct. A 50% setting for hover on a 3s may be a 100% setting with a 4s battery. That could be a very exciting flight.....Haha!!

    450 frame build - advice

Ringalong is right and to make sure the prop nut can't loosen you can use a tiny drop of blue Threadlocker. Instead of using this style prop; http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__25312__Hobbyking_8482_Propeller_11x4_7_White_CW_CCW_4pcs_.html Use one that mounts like this; (I just...

Interested in building a heavy lifting quadcopte

Cages will help keep your health ins. premiums down hahaha!! Actually. The ball idea would probably work really good. Get the ones they use for Tether Ball. You can adjust the air pressure and they have an attachment point so mounting would be easy.:D

need some advice for a newbie

Haha! As crashes go that's not so bad. When you order the new landing gear you might as well get two. Sometimes you can fix it with CA glue, but pieces usually go flying off somewhere. Make sure you have a couple sets of props too.

Interested in building a heavy lifting quadcopte

KDE direct has the most powerful brushless motors but GJH105775's suggestion to use gas motors could be the most viable idea. Use 2 stroke, they provide the most horsepower for a given displacement. They are also, cheap, light and uncomplicated. I would suggest landing gear instead of drowning...

Yeah.....Good question! No bodies either...... PMSNBC already accuses us "drone" pilots of being hooligans and potential terrorists!!! Hahahaha!

Interested in building a heavy lifting quadcopte

Holy crap!! I do believe that will be the biggest quad ever built by anyone on this forum! Kudos to you!! You might do some checking to see if any permits or licensing is required. I suspect it will be in the 2 meter size range. I looked up your u7 T Motor and the 24kg is the take off weight...

Help with first build, motors too weak/battery too big?

One more thing. Use nylon bolts and nuts where you can't use glue. Use only 2 to mount your motor. They don't generate enough oomph to need all 4. Use a minimum of everything. Even the battery strap can be trimmed.

Help with first build, motors too weak/battery too big?

Forgot to mention. Use a square of the basswood to be both a motor mount and bridge between the dowels. You could CA all this together and eliminate the weight of the screws.

Help with first build, motors too weak/battery too big?

Here is a video that shows the arm structure I think would work best for you. You can make it either an X or H. My vote is for H. You will have more room for electronics and they fly a bit better. Make sure the wheelbase is square. In other words if your arms are 8" long motor to motor then the...

    ESC advice

I believe you are talking about 2 different things. Noob9875 I think is refering to a ESC and RGJameson is talking about a UBEC, which is used to power the FCB for example. I use the castle because it does not cause electrical interference( no ferrite rings as a stop gap) and it can handle...

    Very New To Multirotors

Sounds like the Pixhawk is your baby! That was the point. Get the one that does what YOU want best. Holtneil is correct that many of us on the forum prefer to make a quad that is our very own instead of whatever the kit provides. A kit IS great for your 1st build. Terrific learning tool.

Help with first build, motors too weak/battery too big?

Ya know......... Using 1/4" dowells and 3/32" basswood sheet to make a small, lighter H copter might work! The dowel's will allow better air flow. Trimming all the power leads, re-soldering them all and mounted close together on the body will trim even more weight. A sub 1000mah battery...

Help with first build, motors too weak/battery too big?

Wow! That is one tiny motor! At first glance I thought it was under propped but then I saw it was designed for RC planes which use wings to provide lift. Quads get all their lift from the props. I also noticed that it appears to be a 3 pole motor. It would likely overheat if you put a higher...

    Very New To Multirotors

The pixhawk was one of 3 controllers I was trying to decide on for my first real build(non-kit). During my research I came across this article. After reading it I chose the XAircraft MiniX because I felt it would better suit the build and the type of flying I wanted to do. Also I know zip about...

    ESC advice

I have noticed a trend in the replies here. I agree the 4 in 1 ESC's suffer from pretty erratic quality control and single ESC's would be better. But it sholdn't be because you are expecting one to fail and it will be easy to replace. Look into using ZTW Spider 30A Small ESC's. They are 600hz...
