Folding Suitcase drone made out of wood.

I got my start in control line as well. My favorite was the Ringmaster. My first RC plane had a single channel "pulse" radio I assembled from a Allied Electronics kit. I could only turn right. Quads are a looong way from that! Glad you liked the link. Some interesting stuff going on out there.

    Props and max rpm

Ha! That is, indeed, a point. I have another suggestion to make since you are adding more weight and at 920kv this should help. For more lift, not speed, use a high capacity 3s battery like...

    Syma X5C-1 mods

Thanks Mike! I have already been checking out some of the youtube vids. I have a 150mm antenna lead that I can take from a Rx that was destroyed in one of my infamous crashes. ( My piloting skills are legendary:rolleyes:) . That should take care of the fly away complaint. I picked the X5c1...

    Props and max rpm

Hey Chop. The TigerAir 2212-920kv motors are 83% efficient. Most Chinese motors are 80-81% so you are a little bit above. Ecalc tells you that their computations are +/- 15%. So with 17% on the motors and 15% on Ecalc I wouldn't worry about over revving. With 1045 props you'll be lucky to get...

    Syma X5C-1 mods

Ok. I finally got around to replacing my 2nd Helimax 1si. Now belongs to my oldest grandson. I jumped on the x5 bandwagon after reading all the posts about all the cool things you can do with it. I won't get it until next week so I have some time to plan before tearing into it. This is also my...

Folding Suitcase drone made out of wood.

I think your idea of a kit has merit. If you do go that route consider the basswood for the sheets( very lightweight and resistant to tearing along the grain). The 1/2" Sitka spruce dowels are actually cap strips from Aircraft Spruce and Specialty and only 10% heavier than basswood. Perfect...

need some advice for a newbie

If it is a "real" CX20 then no. Just follow the manual and all should be well. Read thru the manual a couple times to give you a feel for it then follow the instructions and everything will be fine. If it is a copy then things can get complicated. Some of the members have found solutions to many...

Folding Suitcase drone made out of wood.

Instead of different motors get larger props. If you can't fit 10" try 9055. I would beware of the Newer ESC's. They may be Newer but the design is Older...... Sorry, sorry......Sometimes I can't help myself. My favorite inexpensive ESC's are ZTW Spider 30A small. They are programmed right out...

Folding Suitcase drone made out of wood.

That really is a cool design! I like working with wood as well. Been trying to help GJH105775 see the light....... I do agree with his suggestion on the motors/props. One suggestion I have is to look into using basswood 1/8" sheets and 1/2" square dowels. Basswood is amazingly strong...

Can't figure out how it works.

Hey hej. Instead of trying to re-invent the wheel, just get the KK board installed and flying, THEN start refining your add ons. The KK already has a good accelerometer and gyro for example but could use help in the altimeter area. GJH105775 has added on and modified KK boards extensively. I...

    Syma x8c. Not lifting.

Never would have thought of that having never owned a geared drive copter. Good to know for the future.

One more thing. The stability functions are dependent on getting a good GPS lock. Altitude hold does fine without although the quad can drift. Depending on where you are flying this can take from 2 to 5 minutes. You can just let it sit if you want while you wait for the lock. The drain on the...

No apologies necessary! Congratulations! Looks like you got a bunch of extra stuff with it. Let us know what you think after a few flights. I have had mine a couple months now and it's been great. So stable I haven't even broken a prop! Certainly good value for the money. Enjoy!!

    Syma x8c. Not lifting.

Man. When a day at the beach doesn't work you've got big problems........ :) Have you checked the battery? Sometimes the damage after a crash isn't readily apparent. Give it a test and make sure it is taking a charge. I had one that physically looked ok after a crash but would discharge pretty...

P2V+ retractable landing gear mod my mod

I can't imagine the total draw will exceed 5 or 6 amps. here are 2 choices for ubec's that can handle big draws from multiple sources; http://www.castlecreations.com/products/ccbec.html You would need to increase awg if you exceed 5 amps...

Yeah. The 4s makes for good hot-rodding. Just not for as long. If you want longer flight times use the 3s. Chek out the Multistar batteries from Hobby King. Lightweight and large capacity at good prices. You should get 2 batteries at least regardless of size. I have never heard of a automatic...

Welcome Froggy8. As Mike H. said the Cheerson CX20 is a great machine but....... Buy from a reputable dealer to make sure you get a "real" CX20. The market has been flooded with cheap Chinese copies that often don't work at all or fly poorly. Also look at some of the 180mm to 240mm offerings...

Here is a chart that might explain this better. I picked this brand motor because their data is excellent: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0496/8205/files/KDE_Direct_XF_M-R_Brushless_Performance_Testing_-_KDE2315XF-965.pdf?13250022135093590036 3 items to pay attention to as you look at the...
