First Quadcopter Drone Build - HELP!

Welcome Rumor's! I'm guessing the size drone you are building as 350mm to 450mm? I think these motors would do better for you. A bit more efficient; http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__66416__Turnigy_Multistar_2213_980Kv_14_Pole_Multi_Rotor_Outrunner_V2.html More prop choices as well...

Safe to use my 4s battery?

The motors are rated max 3s batteries. I have watched a lot of racers use 4s hi C batteries but they want to win races and don't mind replacing burnt out motors. I think the ESC's will handle it ok but I'm not sure. I have only had 1 quad with Multistar motors and Afro ESC's and was not...

U.S. Will Require Drones to Be Registered

This is brilliant commentary from everyone. We are fortunate to have a lot of smart, savvy members. There is no question that the new regulations will affect us. It looks like there is still some time to influence parts of the process, like registration requirement details, before everything is...

It is indeed. Actually, I like the building part even more than flying. However. I do buy, rather than build, tools......;)

    Battery

Thanks for that. I wish I did land that way all the time Haha! Here is a link to a really in depth column on the care and feeding of LiPo batteries. It's a little dry but if your eyes don't glaze over it has a lot of info. Basically for long battery life charge at 1c of the battery amp rating...

    JJRC 1000A

Sorry for the crash. Next time use Bob Smith Industries IC-2000 CA glue. It adheres to anything but water! I used it to repair a bracket on one of the oil coolers on my bike a year ago. Still there. Strongest CA I've found yet.

Sometimes you're so smart you're scary........:) You know you can buy a magnetic prop balancer for $6.00? DuBro has shafts for DJI props to use with their balancer. Just sayin'..........;)

    Battery

That is correct. When you balance charge the B6AC will automatically adjust the current as the battery is being charged. The B6ac is not powerful enough to charge more than 2s at 5.0a. 3s max is 4.50a, 4s max is 3.38a, 5s max is 2.70a and 6s max is 2.25a so you are safe charging your 5000mah...

    syma x5c problem

I was finally able to get my X5C1 charged up today ( family stuff kept interfering). I had to fly inside because of weather. What a great little quad!! Anyway. I can bind mine either by turning the Tx on first and then the quad or the quad first and then the Tx. Everyone is right! Sure is a...

    Syma X5C-1 mods

Finally got a chance to unpack and fly my X5C1 today. The only "mod" I've done so far is to remove the landing gear and camera. I also replaced the battery with a 680mah one. It is 15-20mph winds today with lots of leaves so I could only fly a little inside. What a great little quad! No wonder...

Help with first build, motors too weak/battery too big?

I'm going to go with the first thought that the current build is more than the motors can handle. As Mike H. states the very wide arms are a problem as well. The fix is cheap. Small battery, basswood sheet, 1/4" dowel, nylon fasteners, a couple different 4" and 5 " props to try and trim the...
