    450 frame build - advice

Yeah. I made a typo. 2216-900kv, not 980kv. Sorry about that. You are right about Tiger motors. Very nice. As you noticed with T Motor ESC's and all the other better brands do not come with BEC's. Someone smarter than me will have to tell you why. I have learned to avoid buying quad parts on...

need some advice for a newbie

They are a bit more stable for sure. I keep the RTF's around just to have something that is always ready to fly. A lot of times my builds are just that. Builds. Not always ready. Haha!

    450 frame build - advice

Most important was the point that out of the tons of crap the Chinese foist on us SunnySky is one of the bright spots in affordable motors.

Sorry. Sorry. 2216 900kv is what I meant to type. They tell me the second thing to go is your mind. I don't remember the first...........

need some advice for a newbie

I am sure there is as Cheerson is one of the larger players in the Chinese RTF market. I just happened to remember JJRC from a magazine article. I usually don't pay much attention to RTF's. I prefer to build them. I do have a Syma X5c1 and a Quannum Nova which is a CX20 and the reason I got...

    450 frame build - advice

Forgot about the Taranis. They get good reviews. I actually recommended the SunnySky 2216. A more efficient motor. Also, ecalc has a +/- 15% margin of error(their disclaimer). You are better off using manufacturers data to help you choose the power system that suits you.

You MIGHT be able to. Not sure if that one is a re-branded Cheerson.

Here is a Spektrum clone from Hobby King that holtneil thinks very highly of; http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__54822__OrangeRx_T_SIX_2_4GHz_DSM2_Compatible_6CH_Transmitter_w_10_Model_Memory_and_3_Pos_Switch_Mode_2_.html There is a full range of Orange Rx's and modules available as...

Transfer battery of my Ipod touch 3rd gen into Quadcopter X5C-1 Is this possible?

The motors in mine are stock. Not real sure of the lifespan. Probably 20-30 hours, so 300 flights or so. Here is a link to 1s battery and charger; http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SV1F8VQ?psc=1...

    450 frame build - advice

I forgot to jump in on radios. If the Devo never arrives don't go bottom feeding. A good radio can last you for many years and thru many models. There sure is a bunch of good ones out there. The Spektrum Dx9 seems to be the hands down favorite of the forum members. Very flexible and feature...

    450 frame build - advice

Jeez. If it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any!! That is a shame, truly. Most of the forum members have a love/hate relationship with Hobby King. Some of the others seem to think Gearbest or Bangood are kinda ok. Like you, I have had mostly poor luck dealing with ebay. Living in the US...

Mikes recommendation on the JJRC 1000a Bind N' Fly is something to consider because many of their products are made for them by Cheerson. For $16.00 it's worth seeing if it will bind with your Cheerson CX 20 TX. It would be nice to only have one Tx to be familiar with. Even if you end up having...

Transfer battery of my Ipod touch 3rd gen into Quadcopter X5C-1 Is this possible?

You haven't said if you have a X5c. If it is, then the 750mah is about as big as you can go before the weight of the battery affects flight. Making the quad lighter helps. You can remove the camera, landing gear, prop guards and even the battery door. Better is to get 4 or 5 batteries and a...

    450 frame build - advice

Here are my favorite reasonably priced power components; SunnySky 2216 KV980 motors, ZTW Spider 30A small opto ESC's( 600hz, no programming needed) Castle Creations UBEC because it is small and is quiet. You can place it next to the Rx or FCB with no problem which is good since the 450frame is a...

    First crashproof drone

That video is from 2009. You can buy a more brightly colored one at Toys r Us. It is not a quad but a single motor with a counter-rotating prop. They have been out for 2 or 3 years now. Here is a video of a quad with a surround; Kind of ungainly

Transfer battery of my Ipod touch 3rd gen into Quadcopter X5C-1 Is this possible?

Welcome Celyn!:) I am guessing from the photo that you have a Syma x5c ? I am unsure of where you live and you didn't say where you purchased it from, but any reputable dealer should warranty the defective battery or charger. If you check online at ebay for the country you are in the batteries...

    Props and max rpm

Good example. I happen to have a 600mm quad with those motors on 4s 8000mah Multistar with 15 X 5.5 props. AUW is 1.75g. I don't fly very aggressively and I consistently get over 30 minutes (barely). Plus I could take a small dog for a ride there is so much lift available. Using a 6s battery I...

    Syma X5C-1 mods

Good thought, but after thinking about your first reply, and how much just a little extra weight affects little quads I will have to come up with a compromise for the antenna mod and everything else I do. This will be fun! Kinda like bubble gum for the mind.........;)
