Yes. When you start recording flights too soon, you are focused on the wrong things. If you focus on flying the quad now, you can fly the camera later.

Hobby shops are usually not good places for advice. A lot of the people that work in them know very little and have learned "on the job", meaning they repeat what other people who learned on the job told them. :(

Check the markings on your batteries for their "nominal" voltage. I think the ones for that quad should be 3.8V, meaning they're LiHV (Lithium High Voltage), which should charge to 4.35V when full. Standard LiPo batteries are nominally 3.7V and should charge up to 4.2. I wouldn't run them that...
