Motor won't spin after crash (Holy Stone HS200W)

Spare parts are your friend for sure. I'd do a little research on the motors on that quad, since so far I have only found them available as part of a larger kit that only includes one of each motor. It is likely they're a standard size brushed motor that is readily available for a lower price...

Motor won't spin after crash (Holy Stone HS200W)

Sounds like it might be a bent motor shaft. I would buy some replacement motors and try swapping the one that's not spinning. I'd also spin the main gear (the big one) in place and look for any 'wobble' that would indicate the main gear shaft is bent. It's not likely, but I'd check. Edited to...

    Syma x8

Ok...if your range is very short, check that indicator on the transmitter power. Most Syma TX's ship in high power mode, but I have seen at least once that it was in low from the factory. That will kill your range. There are tons of YouTube videos on range mods for the transmitter antenna...

    Syma x8

Which X8 model do you have? Most of them will fly to 100 meters + stock. If you are having problems with signal loss at short range, the transmitter may be set to low power mode. Check the LCD display on the transmitter: are the bars on the LEFT (transmitter signal) flashing when it's bound to...

    Newbie questions. Please help

I gave kind of a misleading reply to the original poster. If the quad is close to you, most will flash the LED's to let you know the battery is low. If it's far enough away to not see the flashing LED's, most don't give you any signal. If you have some experience with the individual quad you...

    Newbie questions. Please help

Knowing when the battery is about done: On most quads, especially entry-level/toy quads, you won't. Depending on the model, it may gradually settle to the ground, or fall out of the sky. You will get a sense by flying each model what its battery life is going to be, and you'll learn to bring it...

    New York Noob

Sounds like one is still flying, though? Yeah, fixing a few things here and there is definitely part of the game. The nice thing is that the X5's don't get damaged very easily.

    New York Noob

Welcome! I swear half of the people who fly quads learned on the X5C, myself included. I still fly mine, and it's still fun.

MJX BUGS 3 REVIEW! Is there a better brushless quad for the money?

If anyone is considering buying a Bugs 3, I have a friend I bought mine from. $115 shipped to the Continental US from Tennessee. Ships same day, and I got mine in 3 days in California. He's the owner of the "Syma X Series Quadcopter Owners" group on Facebook, Jeff Suits. I have no financial...

    MJX Bugs 3

The micros are a blast to fly. Mine is a Syma X11. I found some much faster motors to put in and it is a real screamer. Flying a little micro never gets old.

    Used quad prices?

You can buy a refurbished Phantom 4 (standard) on Amazon from the DJI store for $799. They briefly had them for $729, and I picked mine up for that price.

    MJX VS Contixo

I'll defer to Jackson on the Contixo since I'm not familiar with it. I fly the Bugs 3 and am very happy with it. Flown gently on low rate it's stable enough to take pretty good video with an action camera.

First flight, damn near lost a finger

P mode is the standard GPS mode. With sticks at neutral the quad will stay in a stable hover. The "easy" (beginner) mode sets a geofence max height and distance from you. You can enable it in the DJI Go app, but I think it should be enabled by default when the unit ships. I would suggest...

First flight, damn near lost a finger

It's easy to fly if you put it in P mode and fly it line of sight. After that, it gets a bit more complicated! And yes, never turn on any RC anything before its transmitter is powered on, and power off the quad before you power off the TX. No need to go into why at this point. ;) Glad you got...

More with Syma X8hg............look........water......better do a flyover!

That is a great example of making the most of your hardware. You have some good scenery to work with and you did a good job on that video. Slow your movements down a little, because you aren't getting any help from a gimbal or internal gyro stabilization, but it was actually very nice.
