    x8c range mod

If you do a YouTube search for "Syma range mod" you will find a number of videos demonstrating adding an external 2.4 Ghz antenna. It's pretty simple.

    X5c-1 clones?

Very true. They're also a good, cheap, learner quad and you can buy props and all other parts super cheap everywhere. They're hard to break, and cheap and easy to fix if you do. Most everyone will move on to other stuff, but the Syma quads are a very good starting point.

    X5c-1 clones?

It's hard to say. Some of the clones are fine and are parts-compatible. But with the X5C's so cheap, why not return it and get a genuine one to be safe? They are all over eBay for 40 bucks.

Understandable...this hobby can get expensive if you don't have some discipline. I wish I had more! :D

Those will work fine, but keep two things in mind: The charger will charge three at the same time, but not quickly. The charger output is probably 2 Amps, so figure 3x 2500mah batteries will take 3 - 3 1/2 hours. Be sure you connect the batteries to the 'pigtail' first and let sit for 10...

Save your shekels and pick up an extra or two. You can find them a lot of places, and some with higher capacity (2200-2500mah) for $11-ish. Be sure and get the ones with the banana style connectors. A decent balance charger will be a good investment as well, perhaps a SkyRC B6AC or B6 Mini.

    New Spark 30 Questions Answered.

Sorry...my phrasing was awkward there. The modes developed for the Spark (e.g. helix mode) will probably end up available on the P4 and Mavic as well. This is a good thing for people like me who are quad pilots but NOT photographers/videographers. I can use all the help I can get filming my...

Can you recommend a quadcopter *without* altitude hold?

If anyone in the Continental US wants one of these, check the MJX Multirotor Owners group on Facebook. Jeff Suits, the group admin, sells them at $115 shipped within the lower 48. 2-3 days and you have it. I got mine from Jeff.

Drone crashes at Major League Baseball Game

God help us. They always legislate to the lowest common denominator. A cautionary tale for the mainstream community. Don't be that guy, PLEASE.

    Hello!

Cool looking little quad, and ya gotta love the high rate LED display. The WiFi FPV is a terrible idea, though. The C or 'null' version would be a lot better idea to learn on. The yaw rate is great on high rate IF the pitch and roll rates are proportional, and the flip rate is very fast. Biggest...

    New Spark 30 Questions Answered.

It's going to be very popular with the "live my life on Facebook and YouTube" crowd, I think. No, that's not a judgment...good on 'em! DJI seems to have been very sensitive to the market on this one. For the rest of us, we're going to get some new filming modes, I think. Not a bad thing if you...

Poll: Syma x5c-1 vs Syma x8c!

Different quads - sorry, I don't think most people would say either is 'better'. The X8's are bigger and more stable for carring a camera. The X5's aren't good camera birds but are fun to fly. You will have a good time with either. If this is your first quad, I'd recommend an X5. They're very...

Need Help Repairing A Syma X8HC

Glad we could help! I'm sure it was the combination of trim reset and gyro re-calibration.

Need Help Repairing A Syma X8HC

Try resetting trims on the transmitter: Hold left stick horizontal trim left, turn power on - 3 beeps confirms. Then re-calibrate the gyro on the quad and try it.

Is the Syma X5C-1 the best?

It's significantly heavier than the stock camera. That said, I think the X5 would lift and carry it without any issues. It would be undoubtedly much slower and less responsive, but that shouldn't be an issue if you're using it as a 'camera bird'. Myself, I'd opt for the 808 camera. However, it...

Is the Syma X5C-1 the best?

I agree. I have multiple quads from Syma to DJI, and I still love flying the X5. It's a great learning quad, very durable, and fun to fly. The stock camera isn't great, but an 808 or the above Mobius cam would solve that part well enough. For fun flying, you can strip off the landing gear and...

MJX BUGS 3 REVIEW! Is there a better brushless quad for the money?

A lot of guys are flying them with 3S batteries. Most are doing some experimentation with props as well. So far I haven't messed with either, but probably will at some point. I'm waiting to hear from someone I know how it flies with HQ 7045 props.
