    Preflight checklist

I decided to make this thread to ask everyone to share their pre-flight checklist. I currently try to remember everything, and it does not work all that well :P.

    The ice breaker

I know I am reviving a long dead topic, but curiosity got the best of me, so here it is in big bold letters. Did it work? :)

    Self-built quadcopter

If you are referring to Nikos Katsanakis (the guy who is making the flight controller) he is really good. He works as an engineer of some sort,I think he has a masters in electrical engineering or something equivalent.

    Self-built quadcopter

Are you referring to the flight controller or what. :) As for taking on a project that may take over a year, I have always enjoyed getting in over my head. When I was 7 or so I decided I would make a robot out of junk (washer, microwave, tv and other broken junk). The only thing I...

    Self-built quadcopter

Like HDtallrider said, the fun in building it. I really enjoy the open-source communities because of this. I am actually currently designing my own flight controller. As for the frame, I can really customize it to fit my needs. I am using a distribution board I designed, because I wanted...

Rate or Slate my build plan

If you want a really fast quadcopter this guy uses 6''x4.5 props cut down to 5''. NOTE: The video is real time.

New to quadcopters ... need some good info

You may will want a second opinion, but here is a nice looking quadcopter for ~$450. I have never bought/seen this quadcopter, so I don't know anymore than what is shows on the link. You will still need Radio and Reciever 2200~4000mah 3s battery and if you do FPV: Googles/monitor (fatshark...

New to quadcopters ... need some good info

Muti wii has a bigger user base if you have problems, but they are both based off from Arduino, so they are very similar. Like Ubuntu vs Debian. What size is your frame?

New to quadcopters ... need some good info

Welcome to the sick bay, it appears you have caught the virus! I am afraid that once you get it there is no getting rid of it, you'll be stuck in RC. Lower KV motors run bigger props, which gives you more thrust. Most ESCs are fine, just look at the reviews, because bad quality can burn...

    Self-built quadcopter

Haha, I had to weight two months for my CF propellers. This stuff is the slowest to ship. I have been building mine since January and I just now have everything I ordered :P. I also burnt our my camera, so I have to order a new FPV camera.

    Self-built quadcopter

Haha, thanks. The landing gear turned out to be light enough, but for longer flight times I decided to go with simplier landing gear. The gear on it worked great, and I can swap them by turning 4 screws. I am etching a distribution board so the wires are different, and the grey leg is now a...

Newbie Wisdom ( the hard way )

I fit into the "more than others" category. Check out this video, it is at real time, he uses 6x4.5 props cut down to 5" props.

Best hobbyking video yet. I really want one now, but sadly I know that it was no where near cheap.

My first build, with a few questions.

Really big motors, I think you can pull 14''/15'' props with those depending on how many watts they are. How much did you pay for the Venon battery?

how to find a pilot near me

Be nice to start a little app on Google maps, of pilots lol.

I also like to use Velcro and zip-ties, though I like to put double sided tape or hotglue, to hold the Velcro on better. I use the thin double sided tape, and it feels really solid.

New new! Excited to get started

I would defiantly buy carbon fibre for anything 5'' and over. They flex less and thus are more efficient. As for balancing props I am not really qualified to say. I believe that it would be a really good investment as an unbalanced prop will wear the bearings in your motors a lot faster than...

My first build, with a few questions.

One improvement you could make is to get the transmitter module and the Rx as far away from each other as possible. This reduces both EMI and RFI. 5.8ghz and 2.5ghz are fairly far apart, but there still can be interference. The GPs, Rx, and vtx should be far apart as you are able. As for...

would this build be atleast decent for 200€?

If you have an amp draw meter you may test the amp draw. But the ESCs are not going to be very good anyways, may be better off just to replace them with a 20a.

My first build, with a few questions.

Sounds good, you said it shipped with no instructions? I suppose mostly men are into quadcopters, and "real men always throw instructions away" :P.
