My first build, with a few questions.

Well got most of the electronics wired and installed and I think I blew up my osd. Had the connectors for the fpv backwards. Swapped it soon as I a found out but already had power to it. The fpv system works with out the minimosd. But no video with it. Could it be a setting in the flight controller or do I have to order another. And recommendations?

Also going to order the props and motors tomorrow. Should I go with 12" or larger? And what size motors should I get?

Hi mate if your still doing with the frame in your first post it says use 12x3.8 and 2212 motors but not high KV with that size prop if you want to use 10x4.7 then go for a 1000kv

I ordered four T-motor 650kv motors 12x4.5 carbon fiber props and a Venom 25C 4S 5000mAh 14.8 LiPO Battery. I also ordered a new OSD but found one last check I can do befire I trash my old one.

Really big motors, I think you can pull 14''/15'' props with those depending on how many watts they are. How much did you pay for the Venon battery?

yeah the props are pretty cheap ill order some larger ones after the first test flight but I think the 12" will do fine. The craft is still pretty light, but that will probably change ones I add the motors and battery.

Hi Junkers my 650 kv run 14x5.5 t style props , the T motors are tops mate so will easy spin 14/15 I have seen them with a 19 blade on

props, motors, battery and replacement OSD will be here today and im off tomorrow so hopefully I can get everything hooked up and installed. I messed with the minimosd a bit yesterday. It doesn't seem fried I can flash the firmware on it and change the layout with the utility. When I hook it up to the fatshark I get Minimosd booting up on the screen then it just sits there with minimosd text in the middle of the screen. So it does put the overlay on the video feed its just not switching to the layout.

Hi mate pop over to rcmodlereviews on you tube and message Bruce he has used that OSD , and he is an electronics expert and is a really helpful guy its prob an easy fix

Ill probably will later if I cant get the replacement board working. I should have everything today. I still have so much to do. have to mount the motors and esc's, balance and mount props, extend the servo leads so the receiver can reach the flight controller, figure out how to mount the pilothd camera. Im having no luck googleing mounting options. Im thinking of removing the case on it because it is heavy.

Hi some times you can use battery straps to hold a camera , just take your time it will come together

Got the lower frame wired up. Just have to extend the servo leads I have for the receiver to reach the flight controller.

Nice spot for the battery.

have to do a little grinding to the motor cases before I can mount them.

Old vs New. I really like the new ones, but I got 4 of the old ones for the price of one of the new ones.

Tested the new OSD module and gets waiting for mavlink and no video feed. it looks like a power issue. I put off the OSD issue till last, getting tired of trying to figure it out.

Just tested the new osd with the pigtail that goes into the telemetry and I get and overlay. Just no power to the camera. Which is an easy fix.

Also messed around with mission planner and can't get pass updating firmware. It fails verification. It could be my computer I'm using windows 10

Hi mate you can use stand offs to raise motors then the mounting screws will fit into frame with out grinding the motor case

Spent most of the day working on my quadcopter. Got it fully assembled and started with the ESC calibration. All went good I thought until I raised the throttle and one motor wouldn't spin. Checked all the connections and they were correct. Pulled off the factory heat shrink and it smells burnt. Guess that's what I get for buying cheap parts.

So i put the props on upside down to test the balance of everything and it was real smooth so I hooked up my 4s to compair to the 3s battery I used to test and another ESC popped. No worries I was going to order 4 better esc's anyways. But I'm a bit worried about the motor. It still spins smoothly by hand. There isn't anything that can burn out in them is there?

Edit: Looked up the specs for my esc's and they are rated for 3s. Wouldn't think a 4s would blow one but they are cheap esc's. I just did the spin test by touching the leads and spin the motor. The two in question seem fine

Hi the cheap ESC can pop due to loading as motor spins up prop ,this is why I go over with my ESCs if they test 20amp I buy 30 amp, normally if you have good ESCs a jump to 4 cell can make motor run hot but ESC is good to go
Your motors are rated for a 4 cell , but they get there best lift with a 12x6 prop on a 4 cell using a min 20amp esc

They were 30amp esc's. One didn't work at all while the other 3 worked fine on the 3s. But as soon as I hooked up the 4s another ESC fried. I'm scared that all my electronics and motors are going to fry. Hopefully I can find someone experienced locally that can take a look before I burn through some more money.

Hi the T motors are spot on they are made for 4 cell, the esc had some bad reviews about 2 out of 5 not works and esc blowing in flight , I would get some T motor ESC may cost a bit more , but at the end of the day the quad when your flying it will not be cheap to replace due to a cheap nasty ESC , If I had the money to spend I would buy T motors and matched ESC every time , Just remember buy cheap buy twice then you will not go wrong , as for wiring It look good I have zoomed in on the pics and all looks as it should , there is not a lot you can do wrong really if your not sure ask first we can guide you
