First build, am I doing it right?

I can't see the iron you chose on your doc, but here is a really good starter's iron. I have one that sits on my desk beside me, it has worked great for a few years now, and I use it a minimum of 3 hours a day for general purpose stuff. Depending on your style, some people prefer to work with...

    new personal best

Haha, I now don't have as much a problem with air time as with lading. I have yet to land where it did not bounce ten feet in the air or break something. One of my landings I hit the ground moving around 40mph, haha I had to rebuild my frame, I only reused 4 parts :).

First build, am I doing it right?

Possible, yes. But unless you already have your parts don't expect to get everything in for at least a month. Even if you used open-source software it will be really hard. You should build the quadcopter so you have something to work with, and at least get a FC as a backup in case you can't...

    Cheap 250 racing quad

Haha, no hope for you at all. Soon you'll be getting a mortgage on your house, and buying barren fields/abandon factories to fly in.

First build, am I doing it right?

Solder flux is not necessary, but if you don't use it you will have problems, it makes stuff easy. I have done a lot of soldering between jobs I have worked and more so here at my house. Flux is not 100% needed, but you will get better joints, see on these bigger wires and connectors it takes...

Help building my first quad/hex copter

Depending on what you want, the KK2 is limited, but really easy to setup. Take a look at this link, it may help you on making a decision.

First build, am I doing it right?

Welcome to the forums, glad to have you here. I don't know who all your buying from on Ebay, but check hobbyking.com , if you buy most all of it at once you can get it a little cheaper. They have the best prices, and will price match. If I were you I'd get xt60 instead of deans. Older fliers...

    Thrust Issues

I did not think it was the ESCs, I think your right from what I could find online. The ESCs would probably burn out before causing a problem.

First build specs! need a little help

He may have set the voltage meter very low , or flown a little before the video, or (most likely) when he drew a lot of that current the voltage dropped to the meter for a few seconds. I agree with not wanting something that fast for someone just starting out, you can adjust the gains and max...

    Thrust Issues

If what Neil suggested does not work add some Links, you should have 5 amps more ESC than motor's max draw.

    Introduction and build planning

Really what ever you want to lift, but I'd suggest getting two smaller batteries as apposed to one big one, unless your doing a LRS. a 3000 mah is fine, you could probably handle a 5200mah battery if it is mutistar's .

You could also put weight on this one and see how much it subtracts from that weight, this would be the most accurate.

Have you tried to just put it upside down on a scale. Just adjust the scale to 0 once you have all of your equipment there and it should be a little more accurate.

First build specs! need a little help

Can you give links? FlySky seems to be coming up a lot. It is a knockoff of a Frysky, people seem I'd suggest you get the best Tx you can as you can always use it after, but if you are on a tight budget I'd get a Orange or Turnigy 9x. Props and Power distribution board/cable. What type of...

    Cheap 250 racing quad

It really does on orientation, that I am still getting used to. After being in the air for 5 minutes or so I start to get it really good, but when I re-start i have to get re-used to it.

Newbie toy grade vs Hobby grade RTF

Haha, the propguards are nice. The guards that came with mine were about worthless as they flexed a lot.
