My friend helped me build my quad. Both built on the MWC X-mode Alien chassis, and both use the MT2213 935kv EMAX motors w/1045 props. Both also run a 3S 5000mah battery, the same exact brand.
The first, (his)Quad #1, I built using a MultiWii Pro 3.0, from whitespy, and hobbyking red 30A ESC's & deans connectors. The second, (mine)Quad #2, uses a Naza-M Lite w/Multistar 20A ESC's ... which were strangely within spec for the motor, and XT60 connectors. Both use a Turnigy 9x...
Quad #1 flies great. It has good balance, good thrust & throttle, and the battery life is reasonable... even with a gimbal and GoPro.
Quad #2 doesn't. It has ok throttle for about 5 minutes, then it can barely maintain altitude... and that's without a gimbal or GoPro.
I've adjusted and configured the throttle curve and gains on the Naza & 9x without much luck. Modes don't change the thrust level much either. My question. Since the quads are so similar in other areas, is it the Naza or 20A ESC's causing the issue? After some research, I have determined a 4S is probably the best option for the size & weight... but since the first quad flies so well with the 3S, even weighing a little more, I thought the second should too.
Ideas? Thanks!
