Help building my first quad/hex copter

The 9x has more channels if you think you may add a bunch of little things, I would get it. If you wanted the ability to do a LRS later then I'd get this set. I know it is a little expensive, and does not come with everything at once, but if you think you'll do RC for a while this will last...

Help building my first quad/hex copter

Here is an ESC that will do 6S ,but it is only 20a. 20a will work but you should have a 24a or higher. Here are a few to choose from. they are either back order or (OPTO) Here is one that will work great, but you'll need a BEC because they are (OPTO) Cheap but again (OPTO) Instead of going...

Help building my first quad/hex copter

I'll take another look at them, I really did not spend any time choosing them. The ESCs are nice, the motors may be nice but they just about need a 6s to run 12'' props. They can run as low as a 3s, but I don't think the ESCs will handle the 6S, so either the ESC or motor should be changed.

    FPV Support/Suggestions

Here is a post that I made an hour or so ago, goes right along with what you are asking. You really need a dedicated camera, because gopros (mobius and runcam also) have serious lag, so if you do get one of these, (if not for the lag runcam is really great, and cheapest) The three I just...

Kinda new with a couple questions.

You really need a dedicated camera, because gopros (mobius and runcam also) have serious lag, so if you do get one of these, (if not for the lag runcam is really great, and cheapest) The three I just mentioned are mainly for secondary recording devices, to give you nice clean video. Where as...

    Coding my flight stabilizer function

Haha. I am fair with coding (Python and Lua mostly :( ), well versed in theoretical physics (that is where all the fun is), but not very good for flight physics. I believe you are moving in the right direction, have you taken a look at open source Arduino based flight controllers to get a...

Help building my first quad/hex copter

Yeah, I paid almost $200 on shipping ordering at different times. NOT fun lol.

First build, am I doing it right?

Haha double post. :). It is possible, but the motors use AC not DC (I think 3 phase not single like your house) so whatever you do don't plug them into the battery, power has to come from the ESCs. Do you have a battery too? Because they draw a lot of current, more than most DC adaptors can...

    Kk2.1 control board keaps restarting

Do you have a way to test the current supplied to the ESC? Try changing the battery if you have another, it may have a sag problem. You could also use a 5v supply to do the board and RX independently to test it.

    Kk2.1 control board keaps restarting

Alright, interesting... List how you are arming it. Is it consistent or does it seem kinda random timing after you arm it?

Take a look at these, you always want your solder smooth and shinny.

@trailhead I agree mostly, but there are now solar cells that are thin as wall paper, but you still could not get the needed return because they charge at low amperage, but if you had something as big as a the kraken you would have a good chance.

Help building my first quad/hex copter

I found the stock software on git. What you need to compile. You probably need a 6 pin serial programmer for Arduino based AVR. I think this one will alsowork, it is for ATMEL processors. Here is some useful info on that.

Help building my first quad/hex copter

Remember it will be cheaper to save your money and buy everything at once, and won't take you much if any longer to get it into the air. This will allow HK to be cheaper than buying it from about anyone else. The cirtius is based on the arduino. I'll look into how you would upload your own...

Here are some parts I threw together for someone, so they are just to give you an idea on cost and a price range. so this is the updated list Changed the ESC, Motor, props, and battery Here are some motors $15.39 Here is a PDB $3.70 x1 Here is a 30a ESC $9.99 x4 Here are some 12x6 CF props...

Help building my first quad/hex copter

Yes, mine would cost about that, it is going to get really tight though, you don't need a BEC unless you get (OPTO) ESCs. You may drop down to 12'' props to save a little money. Here are some parts I just threw together in five minutes, so they are just to give you an idea on cost in your price...

First build, am I doing it right?

Don't be sorry haha, we are all on budgets, you can get something else later if you decide to do more soldering. Though this soldering iron may be hard to use, to help fix that you may be able to get a copper, tip. If you find a cheap or used Weller SP23l (used to be very popular) it will be A...

DJI usually uses 9'' props, but I think the Inspire 1 uses 13'' it is less than 2 feet for sure maybe 1.7feet. You only need ~13.5'' from motor to motor What type of budget do you have?

    Cheap 250 racing quad

Haha, living in a tent with a bunch of RC stuff is better than a house pinching pennies to buy RC stuff xD.

Help building my first quad/hex copter

Yeah, I like choosing the needed props first then motors, then frame and ect. Around how much do you want to lift? GoPro + gimbal? 450 quad frame can use up to 17'' props, you may be looking at around 12'' or so.
