yep, that did it - I was trying to use the 32 bit GUI before, but that 8bit one connects fine, thanks vm. Can't seem to flash it to later firmware though, I get a 'Failed to upload: Error writing firmware: Invalid avrdude exit code (-1073741515)!' from the gui, and the avrdudeR app just crashes.

New Rules from the CAA UK quad fliers please read

to be honest, they should make it just plain illegal to fly within say 1km of an airport. I reckon fliers should have the same duty of care to other persons/property that road users have. those rules look to be reasonably common-sense, a few inconsistencies though - 'illegal to fly over...

Hi Neil, I just wanted to ask you a couple of things on this gimbal, since I know you've got the same one (or anyone else who's got one too for that matter !). I've not mounted the gimbal on my quad yet, but have been playing around with it for the last couple of days, and when i rig a...

just mucking around - Montes de Malaga, Spain

so I talked my wife into videoing a couple of flights, line-of-sight: I think I lost her a little there, so we did a second one a little tamer and a little closer in: After that, on the same battery, I got attacked by a swallow, which was trying to mob the drone like it might mob a bird...

Syma X5C Explorer problem - help?

flew mine into the top of a tall tree the other day too - was practicing flying without self-level on but lost it in a big sideways skid into the tree. Fortunately it fell down through several branches and could be poked down the rest of the way, all luckily without breaking anything

Man shoots downs neighbor’s hexacopter in rural drone shotgun battle

hoping I don't run into this myself. I fly in rural Spain and hunting there is quite common. I keep it over my own land, but there is a presumption that hunters can hunt anywhere unless you put up specific signs to the contrary, which we don't. Hope someone doesn't get trigger-happy and have...

    kk2.1.5 board

monitors the battery voltage, mate. Connect a single wire from the positive side of your power distribution board to the positive pin (no need to connect anything to the other pin) and then the board can read the battery voltage and you can set a low voltage alarm

    General Questions & Issues

ran Malwarebytes on both machines I'd installed it on. Not too bad, nothing that obviously came from Freemake, though there were plenty of potentially unwanted programs which I've now nuked. One genuine malware found, coming from cutehtml - hmm, been using that for years, not good. thanks for...

    General Questions & Issues

Freemake video converter is good too, http://www.freemake.com/ and doesn't seem to be burdened with all the junk you'd expect from a free download program, at least my Norton doesn't object to it

are the motors rotating the right way ? I'm not familiar with your quad, but seems most set-ups the front-left motor is clockwise, front-right anticlockwise, back right clockwise and back-left anti-clockwise Have you got the right props on the right motors, there are clockwise and...
