    Different prop textures

The material's rigidity, weight(probably not enough difference to matter much for quads), and general shape will affect the props' performance much more, though I'd be interested o see how much texture it would take to make a difference. Perhaps one that is rougher would collect freezing...

    Controlling quad via laser

I I agree, however you could do a proof of concept, although I see basically no real world uses.

    Controlling quad via laser

If you wanted to make the quad follow the laser dot as it is pointed on a flat surface it would not be too hard, though the b ase before getting to the actual part where the program decides where to go is probably harder. There are some open source projects that I d suggest you check out for...

    Quadcopter mounted within Tyvek kite?

Certainly an interesting project. You could conceivably do it, but surprisingly the tether will probably provide the most trouble due to the way it will bounce and tug. If you can get the kite to where it supports most of the weight of the quad you might try a stretched out Plus...

    Controlling quad via laser

Also you might want to take a look at doing an open cv based project if you're willing to do the work it takes.

    Controlling quad via laser

There are laser based transmitters and receivers used for other stuff outside or the hobby, you could use one for a super high bandwidth, high range LOS. They require tracker systems and generally costly equipment. ;) controlled by lasers at least

Cheap, yet good FPV setups to get you started

There are several benefits to a dedicated fpv or low voltage battery such as reliability in that you don't have to worry about brown outs caused by punching the throttle, though the down side is more weight. As far as the battery Tatu is my first choice. Thanks! I made it because I...

    RC ABBREVIATIONS

Power distribution board, takes power from the battery and gets it to all of your ESCs. Some better ones have a BEC that take the input from the battery and step it down to lower voltage for the smaller electronics. Generally a BEC. The frame is ideal because it fits the frame a lot better...

Need help if I'm going in the right direction (first build)

looks good though I'd suggest a flight controller that can run cleanflight or betaflight. Also I'd like to menton that racers may be a little cheaper to fly and maintain, but don't have the continuous flight time or lifting capabilities. Yours seems to be more geared toward aerial...

    Unidentified Control board

    kk2 flashing issues

The com port on your pc will be different than on whoever demonstrated it for hk. If you have tried each one then open device manager and try to locate it, then verify that it is enabled and working properly.

Advice on frame for quadcopter (first time)

You want then CoG to be in the middle of the motors, and vertically you want it to be in the center of the props. If you put it under then you are likely to end up with a pendulum effect that makes b th control and stabilization hard. You don't have to get the CoG too precise, but enough...

Advice on frame for quadcopter (first time)

Well what are your preferred materials to work with? Also do you want the basic x quad motor layout? To get a start I'd suggest you search Google images for H frame quad copter. It is a really strong and easy frame design to build.

    Ready for my first build.

Hahaha a you've got that right. No matter what you build you end up having to do a LOT of tinkering. Sounds like a great plan, can't wait to see how it all goes.
