What else do I need to buy to use it ?

Both are great quads, and as long as you lower your rates and expo to a very comfortable setting either would fly 'almost' fly easy as a Phantom ;) Just don't start out trying to do full throttle with normal rates, as you'll likely end up loosing it or crashing it into something head on...

    Ready for my first build.

I agree that you'll find global shutter a little more to your liking when dealing with the jello effect due rolling shutter, as a little blur is better than the wavy distortion the rolling shutter gives hahaha. I spent several hours tracking down all of the vibrations causing the jello on my...

Cheap, yet good FPV setups to get you started

None that I can think of off the top of my head, 1.3gHz is a great band for FPV and there are many companies on the market that make good products for them. What type of budget do you have in mind? Some of them can get pretty expensive.

    Ready for my first build.

What do you think about getting an older Phantom with GPS functionality without the gimbal/camera combo and just mounting a GoPro gumball to the bottom? I ask this because I don't know how much you can spend. If you are looking more along the lines of a building I'd suggest the APM flight...

Carbon Frame Interfering with Electronics?? HELP

Yeah, it is surprisingly conductive, you can short out ESCs if not properly insulated. Sometimes the coating on it will make it appear safe, but if you dig your test leads into it the thickness of a hair it will show you how much/little resistance the CF has. If you are wondering why I am...

Great Info About US FAA Regulations for Multirotors

Perhaps, but in many cases you are allowed to fly over 400'. For non-commercial fliers this guideline has often been confused as regulation, however as long as you are not flying in regulated airspace and taking reasonable precautions you are fine. I will openly admit that I have and...

Great Info About US FAA Regulations for Multirotors

The FBI have no place in base security, and it may be mistaken for a bird or object/reflection too small to wrooy with so it would probably only be reported by some hard nosed security forces guy glancing upward at the right time. Most bases would probably have restricted airspace due to...

Great Info About US FAA Regulations for Multirotors

That and no plane is going to be taking damage to any critical system at 400 feet from a Syma X5c. I doubt that they are going too fast or that it would do near the damage of your average pigeon.

Great Info About US FAA Regulations for Multirotors

Like to mention that some of this info may now be incorrect due to revisions to section 333 and part 107.

    Shuriken 180 Review

Here is a review I wrote recently on the RTF Shuriken 180 from Holybro for Oscar's blog, I'll just link to the full review from here out of respect to Oscar. The Shuriken 180 is a medium priced racing/freestyle ARF (almost ready to fly) quadcopter, that would be great for indoor/outdoor...

    New Build QAV-RXL with Prosight

Looks like you're getting a nice setup. What specific parts do you need help with at the moment? Also after you get to be a good pilot I wanna see you strap a turbine to a quad :P

    Dslr drone

I'd either set exposure to auto or if you are planning to stitch panos I'd lock the exposure at launch. Many can cannon DSLRs you can use something like a button in the 2.5mm jack on the side. You could use a switch meant for lights to take the photos, though I'd just suggest taking a video...

    Zmr250 Quad

SimonK and blheli are both good for quadcopters :p I used to be a simonK fan until getting some ESCs pre-flashed to Blheli, then I flashed some cheaper ESCs on a quad with some problems stabilizing to Blheli. It fixed my problems and has much smoother response to throttle input than the...

noob jumping into first build. there for, noob questions.

I can also get behind the falcon as a great started quad, if you were looking for a small amount more acrobatic flight the 180 version would also be a good start. If your budget would accommodate the Holybro shuriken then that is my suggestion as the frame design is much stronger, but if that...

    rc heli to rc quad

You might actually be better off buying something like a Syma or there are even lower budget quads that would certainly turn out better than you could expect this build to even if stabilization problems were addressed. I'd just go on amazon and brows through a bunch of different models that...

    Zmr250 Quad

Also flashing them to something like Blheli really is a great way to improve the performance and flight controller's ability to stabilize the craft.

noob jumping into first build. there for, noob questions.

I should have an article detailing all of this by the end of the week. But if your from the US GetFPV.com has the Shuriken 180 and they ship fast from Florida but you'll need a comparable transmitter and receiver. The total price without the transmitter or goggles is just a bit over 300$...

    Zmr250 Quad

I would suggest a better ESC and motor combo and perhaps some DAL props as they will last better during crahses and cheap motors and ESCs are what most people doing super low budget builds have to repalce. As you can see they are not parts you want to pay for twice.

Regarding identification of components which producing vibrations

Depends on the setup you are using. What flight controller for example?

    rc heli to rc quad

I don't see any way possible for this to work as you have mentioned as a multirotor needs a computer with sensors making stabilization decisions just to get 5 inches off the ground. This usually comes in the form of a microcontroller with a AMU that has both a Gyro and accelerometer. A...
