instead of heat shrink, can i just wrap an arm with electrical tape?

I use a hair dryer - my wife never uses it so she ended up giving it to me... Works great!

Will higher mah batteries damage your quad?

No, you will not damage your motors. Think of mah as gas tank capacity. I have a Parallax Elev-8 that files with a 3300 mah lipo, but I also use a 4000 mah battery with no problems.

Building A New Quad From Spare Parts & Parts Salvaged From A Crash

I totaled my Tarot FY680 Pro hexcopter due to a series of problems beginning with pilot error. The aircraft ended up falling out of the sky from about 90 feet. I salvaged five of the motors, ESC's UBEC and the motor mounts. At home, I had some spare parts for a Parallax Elev-8 (V2), and decided...

Wanted: Tarot 1335 Carbon Propeller Mount/Screws

Thanks, but I'm using 13" props. I did order the T-type fittings from Helipal. Looking forward to completing my quad soon!

Wanted: Tarot 1335 Carbon Propeller Mount/Screws

Well, I will keep these in mind. I'm chasing down two other options - sent an email to Tarot (in Chinese - thank God for online translators!) asking about replacements and there is a set for Tiger motors that look close to what I'm looking for (they have a small flange on either side - though...

Wanted: Tarot 1335 Carbon Propeller Mount/Screws

I salvaged 4 Tarot 4006 620 KV motors from a crash and using them in a new quadcopter I'm building. But I'm missing the round mounting cap and screws that secure the propeller to the motor: I need four of them with the screws

Need help/advice for first time drone owner

If you don't still have the battery, or if you're contemplating increasing the voltage from 3s to 4s, you should look at all electronics that connect directly to the battery and check their specs to see if they can tolerate the higher voltage - things like the video transmitter, etc...

DJI Phantom 3 standard or 3DR Solo? Please advise

I was pretty much a 3DR bigot - built three aircraft using their APM flight controller - working on a forth to sell: This quad will also have an APM flight controller, though it will be a Chinese clone as 3DR doesn't sell them anymore.

Charging quad batteries with hobby chargers

I use a Tenergy charger - it comes with a variety of plugs that can accommodate a number of different connectors. I just looked at a picture of the venom pro duo - it should work just fine.

switching off sky quad pro v2

I'm guessing that you have to unplug the battery.

DJI Phantom 3 standard or 3DR Solo? Please advise

According to a video I watched, the Phantom 3 cannot fly a preset waypoint mission - you have to fly the route manually first and set waypoints as you fly it. While I don't own a Solo, I have built three copters utilizing the older APM flight controller and you can set waypoints prior to flying...

Flight Log: Tell Us Bout Your Flights

I took out my Tarot FY680 Pro hexcopter with me for an evening flight. Met a buddy of mine who has a Phantom 3 - we were going to get some video shots of the town square. My hexcopter is outfitted with an APM 2.6 flight controller/autopilot and I had changed the flight modes from a previous...

Need help/advice for first time drone owner

I have a Tenergy battery charger. Once I've entered the information about the battery I want to charge, it will check the battery first - it won't try to charge the battery if the voltage has run below safe levels. I expect most chargers have the same functionality. I would expect that the...

Amazing Baltic Sea - Phantom 3 Adv.

Very good! Great choice of music too!

    Smoke and crash.

Unfortunately, neither the picture nor your description was very helpful in determining what happened. If a motor was still turning even after powering off the quad, I suspect that the ESC attached to that motor has shorted out and is allowing power to the motor. A burn spot on the board...

    Drones for old Farmers?

I concur with RENOV8R. you can build one yourself, but when all is said and done, you may not get the performance you want. I was also going to suggest a Phantom 3, though it won't give you the collision avoidance capability - for that you will need to spring for the Phantom 4 or Mavic. Learning...

Need help/advice for first time drone owner

From what I can tell from the photos, the GPS mast is broken - the GPS antenna is that white circular thing laying on the table with the wires attached to it. You will need to find out where it was attached. Fortunately, that's a relatively inexpensive fix. I can't tell from the pictures if the...

    Need help with this PDB

A simple Google search resulted in some hits. For example: https://oscarliang.com/zmr250-v2-build-log-mini-quad-with-pdb/ Have you tried searching around the internet besides YouTube? This is a little late, but its best to decide on which items (ESCs, motors, F.C. etc.) you're planning to use...

    Quadcopter spins on take off

There is a thing called Throttle Deadzone, that might be your problem. Due to ESC differences, you might have some variation motors responding to low throttle settings. I can set this value on my APM using Mission Planner - I can connect remotely to my aircraft and test each motor individually...

    Arducopter flips on takeoff

In RTL mode, you can still move it around, at least during landing - I always make minor adjustments during landing, especially in tight spaces, like my back patio. No need to panic - simply switch to stabilize or one of the other manual modes and you've goto control again. Sometimes, when I let...
