And how did you determine that as opposed to an equipment problem?

Six meters/19 feet, 8.2 inches, is less than a truck length from you. How far out did you measure off while it was still on the ground, before you could no longer control it? Also, how high up was it when you lost control? You can fly it beyond your control range upward, as well as outward.

"Close" is a relative term. And since he didn't mention a specific distance, there is no way to know how close to him was "close". Without knowing at least an approximate distance, we have to eliminate human error first, before going to the time and expense of replacing costly electronic parts...
