Ai Freedom II mods and upgrades.

I still have the defective flight control board that I replaced. Complete with its antenna. I suppose I could cannabalize the old antenna, and splice it to the outer end of the one on the new board. That would double the over all length.

Ai Freedom II mods and upgrades.

In the environments that I fly in, (mostly available open space near truck terminals and an occassional unplanted farm field) even an additional 10-20 feet can mean the difference between it losing the signal and dropping in a tree or heavy brush, and bringing it back safely. Since I already...

Ai Freedom II mods and upgrades.

The replacement flight control boards (I ordered two of them) for my rebranded JJRC H25 quad finally arrived, and I've replaced the defective original. Going back to the GearBest website, I found that they list two replacement FPV cameras that are identical in outward appearance, but one is for...

    Throttle reaction.

Went to the local shop that caters to quad copter enthusiasts, this afternoon. During a conversation about some electronic parts for a project on my quad, I asked about how to slow down (add simulated inertia) the hair trigger responses that I've noticed with what are referred to as "toy grade"...

Ai Freedom II mods and upgrades.

Finally got a response from GearBest on my order from three weeks ago. Delivery can come between ten and twenty-five business days. WTF???!!! That's two weeks to nearly a month and a half, depending on holidays!!!

Ai Freedom II mods and upgrades.

Are there any of you familiar with the Turnigy brand of RC switch relays? I've been looking at a couple, both online and in print material. That appear to allow remote control of lights, sound decoders, smoke generators, etc, onboard a quad or plane. I tried calling and talking to someone at my...

Syma X8 upgrades to brushless motors.

I've been looking at the YouTube videos demonstrating various conversions of Syma X8C, G, and/or W quads to brushless motors. Some appear to be pretty successful, a couple marginal, where the pilot has difficulty maintaining altitude control being the common side effect. But none mention how...

Smya X8G Highly Updated and Improved User Manual

GearBest seems to be slow on shipments. Still haven't received the two flight control boards that I ordered right after you sent me the link. Is this a pattern with them?

Smya X8G Highly Updated and Improved User Manual

I'm curious about this too. Just in case my JJRC H25/Ai Freedom II flight control board isn't defective, and simply needs to be rematched to the controller.

Ai Freedom II mods and upgrades.

While waiting for my replacement flight control boards (ordered two since they cost so little) from GearBest, I took the time to correct a design flaw in the landing struts. The tiny sheet metal screws supplied to attach them to the fuselage are worthless, unless you can make a perfect landing...

Kaideng K70C Motorws cut off mid flight!

Okay, you're convinced of that. Other than one or more motors cutting out, what else did you notice? Unusual sounds, smoke, irrating movements? Anything unusual with the controller itself before the quad crashed?

    Unexplained throttle controller buttons.

On the controller for the Ai Freedom II quad (a rebranded JJRC H25 quad sold at truck stops in the US), there is a button on the bottom right of three blue buttons in a vertical row. There is no explanation for it's function in the included instructions, or on the box. Going to the Gearbest...

Kaideng K70C Motorws cut off mid flight!

He only stated the estimated distance once, and that was in his most recent response. He didn't say how high the quad was at that six meter distance. It could have been six meters out, and half a kilometer up. Possibly well beyond the maximum control range from altitude alone. The goal is to...

Kaideng K70C Motorws cut off mid flight!

And how did you determine that as opposed to an equipment problem?

Kaideng K70C Motorws cut off mid flight!

Six meters/19 feet, 8.2 inches, is less than a truck length from you. How far out did you measure off while it was still on the ground, before you could no longer control it? Also, how high up was it when you lost control? You can fly it beyond your control range upward, as well as outward.

Kaideng K70C Motorws cut off mid flight!

"Close" is a relative term. And since he didn't mention a specific distance, there is no way to know how close to him was "close". Without knowing at least an approximate distance, we have to eliminate human error first, before going to the time and expense of replacing costly electronic parts...

Kaideng K70C Motorws cut off mid flight!

But how far did you walk from it before losing control (Such as throttling up to lift a few inches off the ground), compared to when it happened while fully airborne? It's harder to judge distances in the air, with nothing else nearby to use as a reference point for distance. If the transmitter...
