At $39.99 it's a complete steal, and shipped from their US Warehouse. The cheapest I have seen the i6x with the X6B Rx was $42.99 and I bought two for my sons at that price.

Sounds like you got it. In high rate you will have more pitch, roll, and yaw response and will be able to fly much more effectively in some wind.

Arrrgh. The X8SC has the new version controller with no LCD display and no trim switches. Try short-pressing the right stick. One beep = low rate. Two beeps = high rate.

I haven't seen much feedback on the S6, but the M5 has been hit-and-miss in terms of quality. For the price, you're in the neighborhood of what you will spend on a DJI Spark. A Parrot Bebop 2 is also an option in that price range, as is the Hubsan H501S. Definitely go read/watch some reviews on...
