    Holy Cow!

If you are flying the X8 proficiently, you should do fine with any of the quads suggested. There will be a learning curve when it comes to the technology, but you're already using YouTube to learn, so just keep doing that.

Syma X5SC-1 Broken tooth on motor pinion

You should be able to replace it - I'd look on Ebay and Amazon, or maybe try Banggood or Gearbest. You can usually find sets that have the pinion and main gears, etc. It's a very common 9-tooth pinion gear, and either a 1 mm or .8 mm shaft. A little research on the motors should settle the...

    Bitten by another quad bug..................

Oh, we've all seen this particular special hand signal at some point!

    Bitten by another quad bug..................

I don't, but I never fly anywhere near people. Except my girlfriend, who has become used to me buzzing around her when I'm flying in the house with the E010S. She has a special hand signal to tell me when I get too close, or if I hover right in front of her. :D

    Bitten by another quad bug..................

I use Eachine VR D2 goggles with the Aurora 100 and the Eachine "tiny whoop". They're not the best goggles in the world, but they're decent performers and very affordable. If you're patient, you can probably pick up a set for $79.99.

    Holy Cow!

If you're looking to save money, a refurbished Phantom 4 (standard model) can be had on Amazon for $799. That is also an option. They discontinued the standard in favor of the Advanced and the Pro, but they are good flyers. Same camera as in the Mavic.

Jackson, your new avatar looks like "Wild West Gandalf". :D

    How does it work?

Adding that you shouldn't expect a lot out of the FPV (first person view) transmitted to a cell phone. The range is not great, nor is the quality.

Sounds like time for a salt water bath.

    I did it!!!!

I gotta hand it to you, you're persistent! I'd definitely recommend flashing with Betaflight. And that had to be a lot of soldering!

I absolutely agree with that. The best quadcopter to learn to fly on is one that: Is cheap! Certainly <$100, probably <$60 Is durable. Check out YouTube reviews on any you are considering and pay attention to what they say about how breakable the quad is. Is fully manual. For your first one...

    Bitten by another quad bug..................

I still have a lot of fun flying all kinds. I fly toy grade and hobby grade quads LOS, GPS camera bird, brushed and brushless FPV "racers" and love them all. I'm pretty much a rookie with the FPV stuff, but it's all fun to me in different ways. I can go to the park with a Bugs 3, an Aurora...

    DJI Phantom 3 Fly Aways

I've experienced signal loss a few times on my Phantom 4 at distance. It's very unnerving the first couple of times, but the RTH has always performed flawlessly. Generally signal is re-acquired really quickly and you resume the flight. Once or twice I let it come all the way back just for trial...

    Help selecting Tx/Rx + Cam/VTX on a budget please

No, you're right. It's a remarkable transmitter for the money.

    Help selecting Tx/Rx + Cam/VTX on a budget please

Jackson is right...the Flysky setup will do everything you need. Is Frsky "better"? Yes. More configurability and features. Will you miss it at this level. Nope. And the X6B Rx is nice and cheap these days.$13 on Banggood.

    X5C remote

A couple more that aren't documented: Tx low/high power mode toggle: Hold right stick vertical trim up, turn Tx power on, bind, flashing signal bars on the LED display = LOW (this toggles the transmitter power. The low power mode gives you extremely short range. Rarely, a Syma transmitter ships...

    X5C remote

If I remember, when I get home I'll post my list of undocumented Tx commands for the Syma quads. There are a couple of more worth knowing: Rest all trims to zero, and reset headless mode heading (for the Syma birds that have headless mode). Actually, I remember that one - it's both sticks down...

    X5C remote

Yeah, what they term "mode" is actually high/low rate. The mode switch is a combination of holding one of the trim buttons one direction while turning the Tx on. I disremember which, but I keep a list of undocumented Syma commands at home. There are several that aren't in any of their manuals.
