Syma X5C-1 Modifications thread

One mod I didn't mention that i did was remove those lower landing mount pieces under the gears. Completely cut these flush. Apparently these were the landing pads of an earlier model? Lowered the weight and more importantly removed the vertical surfaces. Haven't had an issue with this and highly recommend for wind resistance.

BTW: How far and how high have you flown yours? Around 150 feet is about as far as I've flown mine and about 100 feet up. I live in an urban area so it's a little dicey sometimes.

Hey guys...took a nice long break as i started this thread about 3yrs ago..lol

Still have the x5c-1 and havent replaced a thing on it..im still loving this model of toy quadcopter.

Got myself back into rc trail trucks and crawlers but think ill get back into some toy quads.

Cant believe all the new models out there and the technology improvements.

Looks like i have alot of research to do to get back into modding using toy parts.

This is the original author of this project unfortunately no longer have the email I used so had to start a new account.

I just recently dug out a box of the quads I had from back then and it gave me a huge smile.

I'll be back with another x5c-1 build and will show pics of the original quad I did here as proof im the original author.

I suppose I can do the stage 3 mods I seem to have left people hanging with and I'm sorry about that..Life took a turn and I had no time to finish my quad projects.

Stage 3 will include upgrading to 8.5x20 motors using the FY326 motor pods of that time that accept 8.5 motors without grinding.

My other plan included using the flight board from a JJRC 1000A with the Tarantula X6 transmitter but considering I'll never find another one in this day and age, I'm not going to dismantle the JJRC quad to do what I intended back then as they were plentyful at the time...I do use the tarantula x6 transmitter with the JJRC though.

Just a list of some classics I still own and will do another thread showing them once I can get them cleaned up and some pictures taken.
