Do I have the right parts?

Welcome to the forums, always glad to see new people joining. As a word of warning: this will be a lot harder than a Phantom, and harder than the toy grade you have flown. You don't need the low voltage buzzer, the KK has it built in. Your motors are too small, you want lower k/v motors for...

My first custom build and need advice and pointers...

I find wood to be one of the best building materials, looks like one would need a miter box, but not much else. Most people have more tools to work wood than anything else.

    Help with idea

Not usually, though it would be possible to use a computer to convert the video to be viewed over WiFi, or you can get an IP camera, but it won't have enough range to fly.

Syma X5C - more fun to be had?

But if you account for crashes or that it is what manufactures advertise it is a lot lower. Light bulb manufactures often give a life expectancy based on the bulb being on 2 hours a day, likewise to the micro quads their motors can't take too much hard or long flights. From my experience...

Sounds like the 5200 mutistar I have it and can say that is is great and lighter than most 3 Ah batteries.

You need to distribute power some way, you can hardwire everything.

Angled Motor Mounts - How different motor angles effect flight characteristics

Sounds like some great experimentation. I have wondered this for a while. Here is another idea, if you were to make it shaped where it would have like a wing that way when you go almost vertical there would be less drop; and therefore you could go faster. I might do it yet haha. I love...

Syma X5C - more fun to be had?

The problem with all coreless motors for multirotors is their life is expected to be at 8 hours or flight, and the longer the flight times the harder it is for the coreless motors.

My personal choice would be a Y6, as it is the cheapest way to get motor redundancy.

    Modability questions?

I'd stick with the one I had and later upgrade to a hobby grade when I got good with flying simply as they are more versatile and repairable.

Let us start from the beginning. What are you designing it to do. Approximately how much do you plan to lift?

    My first custom quad

Haha, I have crashed from 100+ feet with my monster and not a scratch, but from 20 feet with a bit of forward momentum and Ican make it look like it were hit with a lawn mower.
