My first custom build and need advice and pointers...

Just use this calculator ,it considers efficiency and other things, thrust is really dependent on what props you are using, and it is somewhat conservative so you'll be fine. Just looking at your build it looks just fine.

How many amps are your motors and ESCs rated for?

My first custom build and need advice and pointers...

I would buy some of Turnigy's areodrive or preferably Turnigy's mutistar motors. What frame and what power distribution?

    My first custom quad

Haha, I need this frame. I was gonna get some CF tube and sheeting to make frames with, but aluminium is just so easy to work in comparison.

Did not think it would with that bracket tight and that CF tube in haha, weight?

My first custom build and need advice and pointers...

Buy 10x4.7 props instead, more lift and will fly a little better. I'd suggest this battery (or the 4S version if you want to go 4S), or two smaller ones (to use then swap out) if. What type of LEDs you using? Most LED strips are 12v, and a 3s battery is 11.1v - 12.3v, I used regular...

    My first custom quad

Looks like a great design. Is that a picture, or rendered? Haha, I'd like to se you try to break that. How much flex it have when you twist the arm?

    My first custom quad

Bout all places that have props will have both, they may go for different names like normal rotation and reversed rotation.

    My first custom quad

Battery supports 243amps, the motors around 32.5 amps, all checks out on ecalc too, grab some wooden 10x6. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__1574__265__Hardware_Accessories-Turnigy_Type_E_Cherry.html

    Metal standoffs

Haha, it will cut 1/8 wood, I built in 5 minutes, but the hardest part is getting the power and wire right, it is C shaped like a drill press, and works GREAT for foam ans plastic. Surprisingly easy to make...

    My first custom quad

What motors are you using and, ESCs, battery? You may be able to use them, they'll provide plenty of lift. getting that pitch I'd suggest wood that is for electric, it is a little cheaper than CF and a will last a lot longer.

    Metal standoffs

I make a lot of my specialty tools xD, like a hot wire cutter, dremmel press (for PCB), and a lot of other things, but this shop is FULL of tools to use, but they are all older and most for wood work and a few different types of welders, bearing presses, and cutting torches for basic steel work.

    Metal standoffs

I was going to make a CNC but then I got into quads, it would not be too hard. And have made a lathe for aluminium outta a drill that is geared really high and a hand grinder. It works PERFECT.

    My first custom quad

10x5.5? Those are plane type props probably, make sure the motors can handle them and that they won't stall out when you get a little high.

    First Wiring Attempt

All hobby grade motors should be 3 phase. It does not matter which two wires you switch, any combination of the wires will work. That weight to thrust ratio should be fine, most calculators are fairly conservative on their estimate.
