Flight Log: Tell Us Bout Your Flights

Hahaha, that is the way to go, people who fly won't be against others flying hahah.

Flight Log: Tell Us Bout Your Flights

Hahaha, ouch. Remember never to completely kill the throttle, it tumbles, if you give it 5%-10% it should be able to stay stable. And for the last part: Hahahahaha that is golden, best i have heard yet hahaha.

    Hex to powerful? or not

30% is ideal for hovering, maybe lower, but you can never be too powerful (just look at the 250 racers xD) You jsut need to adjust the settings for your FCB. Hahahahaha

    Hex to powerful? or not

Adjust your expo or throttle curve, this should be a pretty good endurance setup. The more power the better hahaha. you planning on putting a camera on it? Also if your equipment supports 3S you might do that. You should be able to adjust the modes for lower throttle.

Help with first build, motors too weak/battery too big?

I definatly agree haha, DIY frames are teh best, as you can make field repairs and don't have to wait a decade for your parts to take the slow boat from Hong-Kong.

Orange is good, but just keep in mind that they make a lot of accessories for other transmitters, so just because something is orange brand does not mean it will work on any of their products. I did not see a FCB listed above, can you re post haha Also check this link out...

Hahaha, yeah, some foam, and 4 small servos you can have yourself a nice little park flyer.

Help with first build, motors too weak/battery too big?

I figure that is the case, but if there is a chance to get it in the air we can try hahha. Looks like you'll need new motors, and possibly new speed controllers.

Help with first build, motors too weak/battery too big?

I think your motors might be too small, but not sure yet. Here is a thrust test someone did in the reviews on HK. You want a 2:1 thrust to weight ratio. Looks like that is possible, but I think it might be a little over 150g with the battery. You might need a bigger prop, just don't...

    ESC advice

I agree, if you expect it to fail, sure the ESC is easy to replace, but it is likely to fail while flying, is the quad also easy to replace? Not all 4-in-1 ESCs are this problematic, so if you do get some get some good ones hahaha. The ones @HDtallrider listed look great.

multistar is plenty good, though the ESCs sound small they would not have paired them if too far off.

    Build from scratch octacopter

Haha, will do. It is not cheaping out, APM and MultiWii are just different, but the APM is a lot easier to configure, even though the MultiWii is more configurable. Two different well known products, neither is a knockoff, so you are good haha. EDIT: Take a look at this chart.

    Motor size vrs. prop size

xD Hahaha, exactly. You can have a big commercial 1000kv motor that would weigh a hundred pounds and drive a lot more because of the wattage. Also many trains are driven by brush-less motors powered by generators that are powered by diesel.

Help with first build, motors too weak/battery too big?

Can you post a picture of the build? Also how much does it weigh?

Lower KV and bigger props lifts more and does better flight time. 30amp-40amp ESCs are what i'd suggest depending on what your motor draws.

    Build from scratch octacopter

I mostly use Debian at home, but it is modified so that you can choose the GUI at login, so I use Mint-KDE/Mint-Cinamon/Ubuntu/a couple others hahaha. I have used about anything Debian based, and have tried a few others such as Fedora, Arch, and non-Linux based Free-BSD, Solaris..... so yeah...

MASSIVE CONFUSION - wierd things happening with ardu2.5

Check that your receiver is plugged in correctly. Changing modes would have changed how it will arm.

More than a GoPro? If you mean DSLR that puts you from hobbist to professional, so you would have to spend a lot more than with just a GoPro to lift it. A Quad is fine for a gopro and gimbal, some 900kv motors and 12'' props would do it, or you could go with a hexacopter design for a little...
