    $400 to spend, any ideals

No quitting here. Just trying to help. Studying history keeps you from repeating the mistakes of others. That said. It does NOT mean my suggestion is right for you. We are here if you need us. We love spending other peoples money!;)

    $400 to spend, any ideals

I have looked at the V383-4c and the HK Reaper videos a lot. They are uber cool but with my hand/eye coordination I have trouble brushing my teeth......... I already crash enough.

    $400 to spend, any ideals

Although Colt 45 wouldn't be my first choice, I totally agree with the concept! My crash drink of choice is scotch. Lot's of it. Hey griz. I still believe it would be a big help if you built a cheap 400-500 size quad first. Any mistakes are cheap to fix and it's fun. What you'll learn doing that...

    GPS Locator

I am unaware of a GPS tracker but amain hobbys carries a $8.00 lost aircraft alarm. It is made by Protek RC. After your quad goes down you turn of your Tx and it starts beeping and will keep beeping as long as it has power. Might do the trick. I have never seen one in real life so I can't vouch...

    New Products mini quads

I always check new props as well as any prop that touched the ground after one of my exciting landings. Controlled crash doesn't even come close..... I'm becoming quite the expert at balancing.

    New Products mini quads

huh. I'll have to try those. I've been using the RCTimer for just about everything and the only complaint is long shipping times. I have only had to ever balance 2 and probably would have been ok not bothering.

    The Chinese manufacturers are adapting

Man oh man I hope it continues! Seems the pressure of the market place is working, to quote a Roger Waters line.:)

    New Products mini quads

That is true. I just don't think the angle on the props is enough to make a difference. What brand are yours?

I think the v666 sounds like fun!

    New Products mini quads

I didn't mean to imply they didn't fly well. I was questioning the manufacturers claims of greatly improved power and efficiency. I noticed they don't supply any numbers to back up their advertising. I have a quad ( if I ever finish it! ) that would be a good one to do a prop comparison on...

    New Products mini quads

How large do you think a shroud can be before the weight kills the efficiency advantage? I have seen some props coming on the market with slightly upturned tips touting the a reduction in tip vortex drag. Maybe. I don't think the upturn is any where near enough an angle to make a difference...

    Need help on Experimental Quadrotor

Nice!! I have GOT to figure out my new phone! I have some pictures from in front of the bar in Madrid, NM where they filmed the fight in Wild Hogs. I'll figure it out. Keep the rubber side down.

    $400 to spend, any ideals

Let me toss this out there. When I first got interested in this hobby I had not yet joined the community on Quadcopter Forum. I made an appalling number of costly errors. After joining I began to ask questions and listen and research and learn. One of the first bits of wisdom holtneil imparted...

    $400 to spend, any ideals

My choice/preference is the XAircraft SuperX . It is plug and play. Unbelievably simple and amazingly flight worthy. I am completely incompetent when it comes to programming anything. I have the miniX, the baby brother of the SuperX and I was ready to go in 5 minutes. Now. That said. I also have...

    $400 to spend, any ideals

Maybe two 4'x8' in a L shape. You need a soldering station, a cutting station , a charging station, a testing station, prop balancing, assembly......Oh crap! You need a boat building area too! I say you clear the garage of cars. Build benches all over. Add a sofa, a beer fridge and a home...

    Need help on Experimental Quadrotor

As will I. First I have to figure out how to program it. I think I can do the rest. I also need to learn how to download pictures for a build log..... Tough bein' a geezer. o_O My kids call me a "COB".( Crusty Old Biker )

    Need help on Experimental Quadrotor

Yep. Saw that. I think it has merit and would be a blast to build. I know it was done strictly as a research experiment just to prove a theory. I still want to do it.

click on "prototype testing" to get to the link at the top of the page. Now I know why no one answers my questions that include different links. I'll get one of my kids to show me next time they stop by.
