    I'd suggest Airmode and horizon perhaps. Horizon is like angle mode until the roll or pitch are near the end of the stick movements, then it becomes like rate mode.

    Do I have a bad ESC?

    Might rotate the ESC with the one beside it and test it with no props to see if either does not spin. It might be a wire broke off in the motor. But you should see whether it is the ESC or motor by switching the two out with the one beside it.

    Not that I know of then. But you could tune the quad in real time with in-flight adjustments. You can get them pretty precise this way, then go back and set it up for smaller adjustments and look at the blackbox data to get a better look at how the adjustments are affecting it to tune it...

    Sorry to be so late, but you could use any flight controller if you just outputted PWM (or any receiver protocol really) from the Raspberry Pi via an Arduino. You would not need o deal wit things like stabilization, just the basic four flight controls through the receiver input.
