Depending on what other 1S batteries you have, I would consider just changing the connector on the TX03 to a Micro Losi style. Those are very common and you can get batteries anywhere cheap.

I don't think it's possible to "switch" modes without modifying the transmitter. The transmitter ships in either a Mode 1 or Mode 2 version.

The simplest way would be to just velcro on a 1s battery. I would think 500-600mah would be plenty. Just make sure the connector is the right one.
