Hello guys, I just found this boy on presale on geekbuying. I couldn't find any reviews around, I guess it's too early for that?
So before even thinking about pre-ordering I wanted to ask your opinion.

Some Specs:
  • With 2.0MP HD camera
  • With altitude hold mode to set height
  • Headless mode, 360 degrees roll
  • 6-Axis gyro quad-rotorcraft flight, strong stability, can easily implement various flight movements, stronger wind resistance, easier to control
  • The quadcopter can fly both indoor and outdoor
  • Including 4CH digital proportional RC system
  • Rechargeable high performance battery

What do you guys think about it?

Hmm. I'm sure others will weigh with their thoughts but from the list above the "altitude hold" feature looks to be the only difference from existing Syma's.

my personal experience with syma x5c-1 was very disappointing which makes me not want to try any syma again, though i see lot of people recommend syma, thouhg i'll comment more when i try out my u807, i'm hoping it will be everything that i wanted the x5c-1 to be and more :D

It will be interesting to see how the "Altitude hold" works and how they implemented the feature....The body is that of the X5S and X5W model which is essentially a miniature X8 body....Its quite possible some added programming updates...Protocol has yet to be determined and i wouldnt put it past syma that they changed it yet again.

Should the altitude hold actually work i can see many doing board swaps (and possible transmitter changes) to upgrade older x5 models...Im hoping they maybe went with larger 8.5mm motors as well.

Is the "altitude hold" the only actual difference from the Syma X5C?

You could call it the MAIN difference......What this could possibly mean is not having to constantly make throttle adjustments to maintain or at least attempt to maintain a steady height...It should be interesting to see how it handles up and down drafts.

Im really hoping they went with larger motors like JJRC eventually did with the H5C CF model..Alot have been buying X5 style quads that use larger motors for a reason (FY326, HT F801, JJRC H5C CF)...Something Syma hopefully has picked up on and addressed.

Quite a few differences, the body for one as was mentioned. Larger motors and headless mode too.
Oh, I see. Will the larger motors make it go faster or it'll go the same speed since it's probably heavier?

Thanks for the explanation, seems like a neat feature!

Larger motors can make a quad faster as long as you have a flight board that can take advantage of it...The Syma X5 board variations arent considered very aggressive with pitch programming....I think syma went with an 8x16mm motor to increase torque more so than speed..The S model uses a much heavier battery than the x5....almost double the capacity which is also almost double the weight.

To take advantage of motors for a speed advantage, the flight board needs to be fairly aggressive with pitch programming...Using the stock syma flight controller with 8.5x20mm motors might give you a minor improvement you would notice but, far from its potential with the larger motors...If you want a fast X5 you need to change the flight board and radio as a first step....7mm motors are no slouch if you have enough pitch to take advantage of them.

I have some quads with such aggressive pitch that they want to fly into the ground..With some practice to keep it from doing that it becomes an adrenaline rush of speed.

It sounds like something I shouldn't be messing with! Lol. Or at least not at the beginning.

Yea...when the x5 or any quad for that matter becomes easy to fly and gets boring its pretty much time to step it up.

If you want a quick little quad check out the JJRC 1000 and use a Tarantula X6 transmitter to fly it...In 100% rate mode, its just an insane little quad...in 60% its just about right and in 40% rate it would still leave an x5 in the dust..hahaha.

You can get a bind and fly jjrc 1000 for around $15.00 and the radio is about $15...so, about $30 dollars for a little monster of a quad.

I found it for $28 on geekbuying (link), it includes a LED remote controller. But from the photo it looks much smaller than the Syma X5HC, am I correct?

You dont want the RTF version...the controller is garbage..it has an automatic flip built into the throttle and this is what people dont like about it.

Look for one at Gearbest...they are like $12.49 for the quad and yes it is a very small quad but with a very capable flight board you can use on much larger quads.

The transmitter you want is the transmitter that comes with the Tarantula X6....they are around $12 to $15.00...Im not sure if GB has them or not but they are easy to find..Do Not buy the RTF version..the controller is a waste of money...You need the X6 controller to take advantage of the flight board.

I see, but what's wrong with the RTF controller? What does RTF stand for? Excuse the newbie question. :/

RTF means ready to fly
BNF means bind n fly.

The controller has an auto flip function you wont want so its a waste of money to get the controller you wont use any...The X6 controller will allow full performance from the flight board without the annoying flip at full throttle.

I have to leave for work...ill be glad to discuss more on this later but i must run.

Alright, thanks. Have a good day!
