I've got some 1045 props currently on order from Banggood - based on recent experience, they should arrive sometime ~never~, but looking at the S550 frame, I'm not even sure whether 10" props will actually fit without colliding with each other (if they do, it's gonna be close!)

ESC's are the 15A Multistars - they came with the original S500 kit, I used like-for-like with the new hex frame. Likewise motors - they're the Multistar 2212 920kv units.

I didn't notice any heat build-up with the S500 quad frame - either battery, ESC's, motors or wiring in between - just a distinct lack of air between the frame and the ground!

9'' 3 blade props then? hahaha

You just need to have a tad over

Metric or Imperial?!? ;)

That's what I mean - it's a tad/fraction/sliver/gnat's hair over 1" between adjacent props. I'll let you know if they fit - if Banggood ever actually deliver (ordered 27th Feb with tracking info paid for/requested… nothing here yet, despite frequent "conversations" with their online reps (who's standard response is: "just wait another week"!)

You just need enough room that they don't touch to be honest hahahaha. If you need them to be short enough not to touch then make a prop cutting jig. You might have to balance afterwards, but on minis you can cut an inch or more off and not even balance.

Maiden flight time yesterday afternoon… lifted with ease, crashed with ease. Broke the downward-facing carbon legs & 2 props (you guessed it) with ease.

Darn! The throttle is still SO sensitive! After further research, I've found that although I can't change the throttle curve on my Orange T-Six TX, I CAN change those settings within Librepilot itself. I'll be messing with that this morning, and just as soon as I've hacked down a sacrificial 15mm aluminum curtain rod to act as a pair of makeshift replacement landing legs (for the time being).

Pesky wabbits! this hobby is infuriating! ;)

Whoops. I may have missed your comment there, J-man! Sorry...!

Nonetheless, I'll be happy to start messing with this a little to try and tame her down (either that, or bugger it up good & proper...!)

So that throttle curve's a tricky thing to mess with, eh?!? By gently flattening the curve a little in the mid/75% section, she's MUCH less sensitive to changes in the stick position - now I can comfortably get the craft in the air, and then increase altitude in a MUCH more controlled manner…

...The trouble now is landing the blessed thing! By flattening the mid/upper sections of the curve, I've transferred the Tx sensitivity further down the curve, so the throttle response is "all or nothing" at the lower levels… move the stick down marginally, and she plummets! Oooooh, Pesky wabbits!

Next: Learning how to enable, then program the GPS for position hold capability… I've got the GPS activated & calibrated in Librepilot, and consistently tracking ~10x satellites; but getting the craft to hover just ain't happening right now - she wanders all over the place without any pitch/roll/yaw input… BUT at least she's in the air!

(Darnit. I hated math in school 20+ years ago - I had no idea I'd have to put some of that crap into practice this much later in life, otherwise I might have paid just ~a little~ more attention…! ;) )

That makes sense, GJH - thanks. I'll extend my adjustments down through the 25% area too - that way I should (hopefully) eradicate this bird's propensity to fall in a rock-like fashion when attempting to land… wish me luck! ;)

Hahahaha, I know the feel, it is like you are using one of your switches and just free falling or climbing. To lang you free fall for longer than you throttle up hahahaha
