Newbie Needing Help - MOTORS WON'T SYNC

Hey All,

So i'm a complete newbie to this site and the whole quadcopter hobby, it's been quite the experience so far!!. After tons of research and Youtube Videos I thought I could build my very first FPV250 quadcopter without any hassles - but of course nothing goes smoothly

. After blowing two PDB boards (Now without the board) and having multiple power issues with my quad it's finally running. The problem I'm having now is I can't get the Motors in SYNC.

I've calibrated the ESC's multiple times by plugging them each into the receiver, throttle stick full and then back to Zero. While waiting for the beeps. When they plugged directly into the receiever all the motors start spinning straight as soon as I give some power on the remote. But it seems as soon as I have the ESC's plugged into the flight controller it goes out of sync. Generally I can get two of the motors running in SYNC while plugged into the flight controller and then I have to give more power and then the 3rd motor will start and then after even more power the 4th. And then sometimes when I turn the radio off the quad motors spin randomly.

I'm using Librepilot to conifigure the quadcopter, here's my setup:

Frame: Diatone FPV250
Flight Controller: CC3D atom
Motors: 4 x 2300Kv DYS
ESC: 4 x ZTW Spider 12A Opto ESC
Batteries: 1 x 7.3V 1100Mah (For Reciever) + 1 x 11.1V 1300Mah (MAIN)
Receiver : JR R700 7 Channel
Radio: JRpro x2610

Please any suggestions would be appreciated, please let me know if you need any further information.

Why are you doing them that way? Hook them up properly to FC and calibrate them all thru the setup Wizard.

Hi Jackson, Thanks for the reply although I tried that originally twice when I first calibrated the board. I then tried to calibrate it manually. Both didn't help the situation.
 
I'm fairly new to all of this, but isn't this a rather uncommon setup? I would think that the need for an an additional 7.4 battery would take up a lot of extra space and weight on a small quad instead of the typical BEC type ESC. Just curious

Yes. You could say it's quite uncommon. Unfortunately I bought a few parts before doing enough research and landed having no power to the FC and Receiver. Luckily I had the spare battery and a charger. The 7.4v battery isn't that heavy atleast. Next build though I'll definitely by ESCS that can also power up the rest of the equipment. Guess we learn from our mistakes :)

From the WiKi. The CC3D can be powered from 4.8V to the maximum allowed input voltage is +15V. That said it also says:
The PWR Out pins provide unregulated voltage to the ports. If the CC is powered from a +15V (max. allowed) source then +15V will be on the PWR Out pins and can damage connected receivers, GPS, telemetry modems or other add-on boards.

Dusty check what the operating voltage range is for for your RX.

I checked and I think it's 5V for what I recall. So I can't really run it directly off l the main battery. With regards to the CC3D voltage range would that also apply to the Atom version or only the standard CC3D?
