I Modified my Phantom 3 to Launch Rockets

It's not a gun it's a rocket and the USA loves rockets how
True. I used to be a member of a NAR Section. We built and flew "Model Rockets", some of which were very sophisticated for the time. That was back when I was 18 Years old, some 53 years ago. I still have a few in my garage, with engines as old as the rockets. Bet their like Dynamite now!

Nobody said G.W. mounted a gun on his quad. For this thread to sidetrack over to the story about the Connecticut kid that mounted a pistol on his quad and posted a video showing it firing is pretty natural, don't you think?

Regardless, firing guns, rockets,... from RC vehicles is foolish and easily dangerous. "Look at them Martha! First they are zipping around the park almost taking our heads off! Then they are hanging around windows taking pictures! Now they are shooting from them! They should be illegal!"

Me too! if I remember correctly, it's an Estes Fat Boy. May have to dig it out and have look. God, I'm such a nerd

Yeah, all my rockets were Estes Industries products. Had the best engines too. My favorite engines were the C6-0 Booster and C6-7 Main Stage. If you wanted an engine with a higher Impulse Ratio you went with the Century E Series and F Series, especially the F-100 Booster. That got you up fast and high, way above 400 feet. With today's FAA Rules over 400 feet is a no no!

Launching model rockets over 400ft is actually fine (with no FAA waiver required), as long as they are a class 1 rocket.
Other than that it doesn't take much to get a quick clearance for larger rockets!

Honestly the restrictions on rockets/weather balloons, etc, are way less strict than drones.

We are going to need a Bigger Drone.....
