I Modified my Phantom 3 to Launch Rockets

Hey guys, I've had my Phantom 3 Drone for a while and primarily use it for arial photography/videography. However, as a general geek, and model rocket enthusiast, I thought it would be cool to add some additional servo controls, and the ability to remotely launch rockets from my drone. Here is the build video if y'all want to check it out:

Outstanding! Looks like fun indeed. YEah fins would help and don't stand in front of it when firing haha. Who needs an Apache. LoL
Reminds me of when we were kids. We used matches, coat hangers and pen refills to make Zip Guns.
I have the scars to prove it.:D
Good job, keep us up to date.

Thank you! Yes, it's been a blast. Hoping to get those issues hammered out, lol.
Also, looking forward to using this setup for some different applications. Having additional servo control could be used for all sorts of things.
Will do!

I have been thinking about using my Phantom to drag wire antennas up into tree tops. I presently use a tennis ball shooter. Works ok just not as accurate as drone would be.

Awesome build. If you were worried about weight, there are servo/PWM switches that could work and eliminate the need for the servo and switch. You could also probably do it all with a lighter battery. Interesting build nevertheless. Can't wait to see the improvements!

Yeah, very true. I was just working with what I had, but in the future I may do that to save some weight.
Am also wanting to eventually use a servo to control the pitch of the launch tube, and then an ignition system that could be used to launch multiple rockets sequentially in one flight. We shall see!

Forgot to ask, did you get video of the launch from the Phantom????

Hey Grant. You are in trouble now;)

Have fun!

Haha! Good thing my drone is human controlled! ;)

But seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if they start clamping down on stuff like this. I'm just gonna have my fun while I can...
