how are holy stone quads?

its weird because i haven't seen ANYBODY in the quad communities on youtube or reddit talk abgout them, yet on amazon they are like the #1 best reviewed quads!

tbh i think i will try to return my x5c-1 cus as you can see in this video, even in a wide open field, the range is ridiculous and i heard a few people mention across the internet that syma has good things for cheap, but lot of times the QC suffers.

i was thinking of going for holystone x400 or f181, what do you guys think of those?

otherwise what else would you recommend besides x5c-1 that is not a mini/nano?

omg wow...so basically just a waste of money? so you think its best to get the mjx 400 for 30 bucks at gear best?

Actually i saw your recommendation for the u807 in another thread...i think im gonna get that because it has longer flight time and longer range than any other drone in this class that i have seen, (8-12 mins?? 150meters?? hells ya!) ALSO looking at quadcopter 101s review, you can hear the tone of his voice change when he gets surprised by how agile and fast it is lol :D and thats a good price and i can always add an action cam/fpv cam later :D

I love my Nihui u807. Actually, plural because I have two of them. Bought the white one and then picked up a black version. Great beginner level quads. Good flyers.

Fair warning: The manual is indecipherable but there are some excellent YT videos where guys show you how to operate the Tx, especially for setting the gyros and the magnetic compass. Check them out.

im sold :D

going to return the x5c today and order the u807 :D thank god for amazons best in the world return process, hopefully i get a good u807 from gearbest :D

and looking at the videos on youtube, if i get a runcam on the u807, i wont ever need a phantom :D so basically for less than the price of the x400 im getting a better quad and a runcam :D thanks again jackson!

Might a good idea to order at least one CC and CCW spare motor.

And maybe these as an upgrade from the brass bushings.

You'll need a light weight bearing oil also (NOT WD40).
cool thanks, tbh i dont really know what any of those things are, are cc and ccw motors for the propellers?

for the "light weight bearing oil" can i just use silicone lube? i use silicone lube for pretty much everything lol.

silicone lube > spit > wd40 :D

packing up my x5c-1 now :D

I have two holy stone predators, no camera or anything fancy, but I love them. They are perfect for indoor flying and they do surprisingly well outside too. Very fast in high rates for a toy quad.

just dropped off the x5c to ups, gonna order the u807 today, never ordered from gearbest before, how long does it usually take to reach your place?

btw jackson why did you say to buy spare motors? are they known to crap out easily on the u807? dang its like all drones have some caveat lol, what else would you recommend?

what if i went jjrc x1...it has a brushless motor? :D i 110$ considering i was looking at the holy ripoff x400 for 120 :O

ok so im narrowed down to tarantula x6 and u807 and jjfrc x1?

i hear the x1 is more for advanced and it doesnt have LED orientation so i think it may not be best for me.

and seems the tarantula only does about 7 mins flight time but has 300m range...

u807 does 12 mins, but only 150 meters which i guess is good enough right?

The X1 is too much quad with your little experience.

ALL quads have motor issues with the toy grade...They are mass produced and most all only have a 5hr life span if youre lucky to get a good one.

The X5C you are returning was one of the best possible choices for you to continue learning on..its not supposed to have 150- 300m of range and if you were getting less than 50m of range that problem couldve been resolved quite easily with a simple screwdriver but you did say you dont want to fiddle with anything so, thats too bad.

The U807 is a great flying quad...its slightly more powerful than the x5c but is not run cam friendly as thats really pushing the limits of the quads capacity....almost certain to burn up motors much faster.

Heres a tip for you...With almost anything hobby wise you need to not be afraid to tackle some minor repair issues yourself or you will find yourself at the post office once a week sending your toy back...You arent going to buy a quad that you have no problems with.

right on, you think maybe i should get the u807 with no camera and just learn learn learn, and then when i get better go for the x1? tbh the videos i have seen of x1+runcam, i dont even want a phantom anymore lol, but looking around yeah it sucks that i returned the x5c, but i think for now the u807 with no camera is my best bet.

btw do you guys prefer banggood or gearbest? cus i saw gearbest said free shipping in 7 to......25 days? :O

otherwise i think banggood said 3-7 business days, but not sure if that means they will SEND IT OUT only in 3-7 days :S

I ordered my U807 from the banggood usa warehouse $38.00 with no camera and had it within 7 days.

The u807 is a great quad but expect like any toy quad to burn up motors, to need a gear replaced, to one day need to replace the flight board and props etc....

If you want something to easily carry a run cam look at the SYMA X8C...This is a much larger quad and at less than $100.00 for one with a camera is a great quad...This will be my next personal quad purchase for FPV and video recording....or spend the money for the X8G with a 1080p HD camera already attached.

right on, did you use free shipping from banggood? i can't remember but didn't you have issues with banggood when you bought a BNF x5c-1 and they didn't ship it in time?

Agree with Mike H. I bought my last U807 (less than 2 weeks ago) from Bang good USA and received it in about a week. Got the no camera version this time.

Do yourself a favor and get some extra batteries when you order.

The bnf i ordered was a back order issue..i purchased with it showing the item was in stock then a week later after a live chat they say it is on back order...ive had a delayed order also from china with the same issue..bought everything showing in stock and it turns out my jjrc 1000 props have been holding back shipping and is on back order till march 3rd.

Those arent JST plugs and will not work
