Absurd DJI after-sales service

They are not counting the flights with less than 5 minute flight time.

If you flew it until the battery was too weak to bring it back in, then unfortunately it is your fault. I have had 2 good dealings with DJI repair.

Both issues were my fault. Here is a pic one of mine that was fixed.

May I ask what was your assumption based on? Less than 5 minute flight doesn't count.
I did bring back my drone in low battery while I still didn't receive any reply after I sent an email requesting the return of my drone.
I guess it's my fault to choose DJI in the beginning.

Your first 2 records in the image in your first post. Both were less than 5 minutes.

I hate to see anyone lose a drone. Been there done that, but there is nothing wrong with DJI from my experience. They may be a little slow, but they have always delivered for me. Any drone would have went down once the battery was too low to keep the aircraft in the air.

I assume that you cancelled the return to home function once the battery level was low enough to make it back to home.

Reading the manual shows how dangerous a critically low battery is. (Page 13 to be exact) You did read the manual didn't you o_O

No it's your fault that you didn't RTFM. Sorry, but I've seen way too many inexperienced pilots crash and blame it on hardware failure when they're clearly to blame. Like I said before, post this on the DJI forum. They'll rip you a new one.

Please see the update in my first post, I did not blame it on hardware failure or say it was not my fault causing the crash. Even it's like what you said, I don't think my RTFM is an excuse for DJI's terrible after-sales service.
Also, I'd rather buy a new drone than pay $515 for a refurbished "new" one.

Sorry I mean if your assumption (Less than 5 minute flight doesn't count in accident evaluation) was based on any DJI official documents?
You're right I cancelled return to home because the ground was covered in salt water and I had to do palm landing, that's why I walked to the drone and the flight logs ends in 1.3m height. (according to the DJI remarks)

Have they replied to you yet about just returning it?

I have always used the online chat function for mine. Never called them once.

You said you were travelling. How were you charging the battery ? Did you leave it a few days without it being used ? it will deplete over time.

Always attach a float device to your quad when flying over water.

Get the drone returned to you. Buy an ultrasonic cleaner and dismantle it. Clean every piece then rebuild it.

I charged it in hotel with DJI's charging hub in the morning on that day.

I thought you were kidding until I watched one of @Raincast videos on Mavic accessories and saw these:
I don't know how much these weigh, but the alternate one's he linked were 60 something grams.

After using it several times, here are things I noticed...
- the drone props don't rev/work any harder with them on and precision landing doesn't get affected
- it's a great landing gear especially on uneven terrain (sand, small boats with curved surfaces)
- I'm hoping even if my drone flips and crashes onto water the device will make it float (not tested) and DJI Care can save me
- it's lovely for snow as you don't need a landing pad that'll get wet
- it's not ideal when dealing with waves, don't risk tipping your drone over
- in some strong winds or quick movements, you'll see the red foam when filming top-down shots
- the black material can bend easily or maybe even break due to heat (filming in hot beaches)

As for OP, it is unfortunate that DJI is giving you a hard time. My experience has been the total opposite. I asked them to replace two small pieces of my drone and they gave me a new one for free without even telling me.

I would think there would be mesh straps to mount the pontoons. would sake on weight and more durable with heat issues.

I think the other version he reviewed (which I did not post) uses straps and probably why it's weight is closer to 60g. The red ones above look better for floating as the 60g ones use rubber/plastic balls.

As you say, it seems that the straps might be a great idea for this one.
