    Full thrust question..

PI limits not high enough in the FCB settings maybe ? So that with full throttle from the rx, there's no leeway left for the FCB to stabilise

Where To Place Battery On Top Or Bottom Of 450 Quad

i've got mine underneath, but only because that suits the build better. I'd imagine the FCB would have to do less stabilisation work if the quad isn't top-heavy

    Lookingfor a Quad Kit.

hi Bob - my beast grew out of one of these kits - http://www.radioc.co.uk/product-p/5501.htm pretty much as you describe - no instructions whatsoever, some soldering required, but easy enough to pick up and fun along the way. I've now got a go-pro clone on a gimbal underneath and fpv parts...

    Quick tips ?

here's a list of training drills I put together for myself when I was first learning. Don't think I ever properly completed the list, but I reckon I can do them all now if I tried. 1) Facing away, simple hover holding in place, low altitude, slightly higher (1m), land again. Check trims...

Cheap, yet good FPV setups to get you started

yeah, i'll just snip those plugs off and splice them together into an XT60 plug. Got one on order

Cheap, yet good FPV setups to get you started

so i treated myself for xmas and got some FPV components as you recommended George. (I could only source the V1 goggles, hope they're good enough). Question about powering it all... Both the screen and the receiver have a little two-pin JST plug as shown below, not like the 4-pin balancer...

    Lets see your Machines!

as George says, they do make it a bit tipsy - unless you have very clean landings it's possible for them to trip the quad over onto its nose. They're also a bit heavy compared to those white plastic ones. Weirdest thing though is that when I'm flying and it's near-silhouetted against the sky...

    Lets see your Machines!

current incarnation: I'm not a fan of those long legs, have some others on order at the moment. I've got some super-bright LEDs i'm planning to put on as headlights, and have some FPV gear arriving for xmas, hopefully...

Advice for visualising orientation (nose in hovering, etc)

comes naturally after a while, and you won't need to think about it, but sometimes I find myself imagining as though each corner of the right stick pulls on a string to that same corner of the quad - eg if I pull the stick down and left, then it will brake the quad as though pulling on a string...

    events in Paris

I don't really want to write this, but here goes... I'm a quad enthusiast, and I know that all the regular contributors on this forum are fellow enthusiasts too. I really enjoy the challenge of building, maintaining, upgrading and flying my quad as a harmless piece of fun and for a bit of...

    Video Editing Software

i liked the look of that lightworks from a quick google, but the free version limited to mpegs at 720p is probably a bit limited, no ? And the pay versions are $$$ !

    got a slight yaw...

cheers mate, CF props, and I've not crashed it or bumped it or anything since the last good flights, so not those I think. Will try swapping the motors over, that's a good idea. Will try swapping the ESC's too I guess, that'd identify if it's a problem with #1 which is powering the board...

    got a slight yaw...

Last couple of flights, I noticed that I was getting a slight slow yaw in the same direction (anti-clockwise) when hovering with hands off the right hand stick. I checked the receiver test screen and was properly getting zeros when stick is centred and the correct travels in either direction...

    Problems at a distance

this was a video of me losing orientation at a distance. Playing that back, I think I might have yawed left while rolling right instead of doing a proper banked turn, and since it was far away, silhouetted, and didn't do what I expected it to, lost orientation. Not sure how I managed to get...

Well did you fly today post videos here

yep, I think it's mobbing behaviour - small birds will often swoop on and attack birds of prey to frighten them off. I've had swallows try to do it to mine, took some fancy flying to get away and not slice the swallow in half. I hit a bumblebee in flight, dropped it instantly. Felt very...
