    Pilot doges THREE "Drones"?

did you see that after that reported 'drone near miss' at Heathrow, they came out a few days later and admitted it was probably a plastic bag ?

Oh No!!!! A Drone has hit a plane!

get the feeling we're on borrowed time with this hobby ? luckily for me I fly in Spain, and they've not yet brought out any regulation as far as I know, except bizarrely a blanket ban on drones for commercial use.

    Having issues with kk2.

there's a fair bit that needs setting up properly for the first time - have a look at Appendix G of this, and go through all the steps - http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showatt.php?attachmentid=7345654&d=1417731690

    Another kk2 question

yes, exactly, so if you tilted the quad in the pitch direction, then a board mounted at 45% would measure change of angle in both pitch and roll equally - experiment with changing that board offset parameter

    Another kk2 question

yes it does, it'll read and respond to the accelerometer and gyro data wrongly if it thinks it's in a wrong orientation. Check Board Offset in Misc Settings 2: o 0 – Zero degrees offset. KK2.1.X board faces forward. o +45 or -45 – KK2.1.X board is mounted at 45 degrees. o +90 or -90 – KK2.1.X...

new toy, need experiment suggestions (sensitive chemistry scale)

nah, you're still good - if you've got your plant and pot, water etc all sealed up in a clear plastic bag, then you've got no mass entering or leaving the system, apart from... sunlight ! Energy/mass equivalence (Einstein and all that), so I think you should see it gain weight over time ? I'm...

new toy, need experiment suggestions (sensitive chemistry scale)

how about... open a can of coke and put it on the scale, see how the weight changes as it goes flat

new toy, need experiment suggestions (sensitive chemistry scale)

graph the weight of a plant over time ? maybe half-hourly measurements and measure them vs amount of incident light, or over a longer time scale to watch it grow ? edit - might have to stand it in a dish of water (covered ?) so no net water weight gained or lost

Cheap, yet good FPV setups to get you started

ahem, speaking as a guy in his 40's who already wears reading glasses, they're fine. I've got the V1 (couldn't find a V2 stockist for the UK) and they come with 3 different fresnel lenses which you put between the screen and your nose and can slide backwards and forwards for...

    first flight video!

wow, you've had quite a day ! tough luck mate, but at least it's a cheap toy one and you haven't lost $500. Practice gently - no more than about 10m away from you and no more than about 5m high until you've got the hang of it - and there are loads of fields near you, go and stand in the middle...

how was your first quad copter flight?

haha - first flights are hard ! Think my first flight was completely sideways into the ground, second one went way too high and landed on the roof, had to climb up to get it, third one straight into a tree breaking all my remaining props. It does get easier though - probably one of the best...

    First FPV flight...fail

hmm, things to think about - that space where I was trying is fairly limited to be honest, lots of hills and trees around me as you can see, and I was flying nose-in so that I wouldn't fly into myself with those carbon fiber blades without seeing it ! I wasn't trying to fly backwards, I think I...

    First FPV flight...fail

So I'd consider myself to be a competent l.o.s pilot, but this is my first attempt at fpv flight, which as you can see, didn't quite go so well... Resulted in a broken stilt, and I didn't have any spares, so that was the end of that. Anyone got any tips for learning fpv ?

in fact the anti-static foam box the board comes in is ideal, I just drilled a few holes through that and mounted my board in its box on the quad

New Flyer After Any Tips I Can Get

i posted up a training drill i did for myself in another thread, here, which is hopefully of use. Regarding l.o.s disorientation at a distance, that's something that happens to me rather more often than I'd care to admit, especially when it's just a speck and is silhouetted against the sky...

haha, it's all a front, I have no idea what I'm talking about either !

    Full thrust question..

not sure what FCB you have, but the KK2.1.5 has PI limits as well as PI gains. The limits are 'the percentage of motor power that can be used to apply the correction. These should be left at default. For example, a limit of 20 (20% motor power to apply the correction) will allow 80% of motor...
