Planning first quad build [must get right the first time]

Hi Sentinel! Welcome to the Quad World:D. I am not sure what kind of use you are planning for your quad. The speakers, amplifier (?) and giant battery packs are more weight than a 450 can handle. Sounds to me like you should be looking to build a 700 to 900 size quad. How about posting some more...

    FPV and UBEC interference

And it can do the work of three of the Turnigy UBEC's!

    FPV and UBEC interference

Funny you sent that quote. I just bought a castle UBEC and it is within $1.00 of being twice the cost of the Turnigy, AND, it is within 1 gram of being 1/2 the weight! Actually it's 1/5th the weight of the Turnigy after you add the ferrite barrel the Turnigy needs to stop the interference! I'm...

I'm sure this is the wrong place to post this question. How do I delete a classified listing? Great forum by the way. My favorite.

    FPV and UBEC interference

Hey, holtneil. Thanks for the video. It looks like an outboard/homemade version of the circuitry that Jackson described that is already in the better UBEC's like Castle, for example. Space and weight are a problem that I have for all my builds. I'm going to save up my pennies until I can buy the...

    FPV and UBEC interference

I was referring to stand alone UBEC's. Some of the control and video problems posted just strike me as electrical interference. A number of videos on line show wires braided, extra ferrite rings, metal shielding etc. all to reduce interference. I have only been in this hobby a few months. The...

    FPV and UBEC interference

Thanks for the explanation. I think I get why they are used, now. The first one I used was a no name chinese . It was pitiful. The second one was a Turnigy. It was better so I added a barrel ferrite magnet in front of the ferrite ring. That cleared up the interference but it now weighs almost as...

    giant quad motors

You're welcome. That sounds like octocopter size. That's some serious size and expense and way cool!! You should do a build log posted on the forum. Your project sounds like a blast and will surely attract a following. :)

    FPV and UBEC interference

Hi all! Just got back in town and started back to work on my universal / detachable / transferrable FCB/FPV/GPS unit. When I bench tested the FPV setup I noticed some electrical/ static interference. I finally nailed it down to the UBEC. I changed it to another brand and had a similar result...

    giant quad motors

Hi there quadzimodo. One of my builds is a 700 size quad. I am building it to be a experiment in efficiency and reasonable performance. You have not said what size your budget is. For a big budget check out KDE Direct. They are the Mercedes of brushless power. For a less expensive alternative...

Cryonics - More thrust, but less heat?

Hi all! I have a minor update regarding the cryo process and motors. I sent the stator/coil/wire assemblies, without bearings, from a T Motor 3508 and a KDE 2206 to get an opinion from the owner of a cryo facility. I also sent all the specifications and technical data I was able to gather. He...

    123 of FPV

It's quality, not quantity........:D Seriously though. This is my go to place for getting answers and not being talked down to or ignored like some of the other sites. Good job.

    123 of FPV

Ha! I was thanking you for posting it. I rarely spend time on any other sites so that was a big help. Thanks to you and others posting items like that I usually find everything I need right here .:)

    Interchangeable FPV/FCB/S-BEC

I see what you mean about the pin connector. Would look more professional. Remember. I crash. A lot.:D The velcro will come apart more easily than the pin connector and would be less likely to transfer the crash energy to the rest of the quad. That was another reason I used velcro to mount...

    Interchangeable FPV/FCB/S-BEC

Thanks. Me too! I think I'm going to stick to a 2 wire bullet connection right now. I noticed you included ESC's in your " combination device". ( I like that!). I considered that. I currently have 4 quads under construction with power ranging from 2206 to 3508. I think I'll stick to specific...

    Interchangeable FPV/FCB/S-BEC

Hi all. I have been trying to simplify and hold cost down when building more than one quad. Towards that end I completed my prototype all in one FPV/ FCB unit that I can move from quad to quad. I used the bottom plate, trimmed, of an Alien frame. I then mounted the FPV camera and tx, the FC, the...

    Hobby King FPV

Hi all! 78 days later I finally got my $99.00 HK FPV Special:p I am unable to find anything in the directions or on the HK website that shows the orientation of the camera. The camera they ship now is a perfect square with no markings and only the connector in one rear corner to use as a...

    Small, efficient quad

That's what I was thinking for the big quad. For the little guy I already have the batteries. I'm gonna go for 7 or 8" props depending on if I hit the lottery and can afford the KDE motors.:) This is kind of a proof of concept . Hopefully on the cheap.
