    Small, efficient quad

Yeah. I do those too. Just not on purpose........... I will eventually get it. In the meantime I am having a blast building, tearing down and building again. Each time I read threads in the forums I learn something new. I just wish what I learn would be less expensive.:) I am going to use this...

    Small, efficient quad

I hear ya brother! I'm gonna keep messing with the frame assembly and see where I can trim some weight. I can live with a little less strength. I want slow and easy just to see how long a flight time I can get. I don't intentionally do acrobatics. My landings just look like it...........

    Small, efficient quad

I have been doing some more research and the pickin's are slim! The batteries are 285 grams by themselves. The best I can come up with for a frame with everything, less batteries, is about 240 grams. I found that a RC Timer 1806 2300kv with a 7x2.0 cf prop can just about due 550 grams at 50%...

    Long Endurane Quad

Cool quad! I am intrigued by it being able to hoist a 16k battery and the air frame and doing it so efficiently! I am trying to come up with a battery/ frame combo for my T motor 3508 380kv motors. I have RC Timer 15x5 CF props for them. The 50% thrust for these is 490 grams so with a little...

    Small, efficient quad

Hi all! I accidentally ordered 2, 2s 5000mah batteries instead of 3s. It would cost a bunch to return them. I thought I might build a 7.4v quad and try for some really long flight times just for fun. I have been searching for a couple days and am not having much success finding motors strong...

Cryonics - More thrust, but less heat?

Hi all. I have continued to pursue some answers to the issues that have cropped up.I reviewed my initial test and findings that I posted. Very unscientific. I thought back through what I did when the motors came back and realized I had reversed my "seesaw" arm. The difference is less than 3/8"...

Cryonics - More thrust, but less heat?

Alert!!!!! Don't do this yet!!!!! Remember when I said I have just enough knowledge to get in trouble? This is a good example. I just got a SunnySky 2216 motor and a ZTW Spider 30a ESC back. The ESC is toast. The motor shows some stator and wire distortion but the worst effect is the epoxy that...

Cryonics - More thrust, but less heat?

Most of my prior experience has involved Hi Fi and some automotive. The cryo process made noticeable changes to everything including engine management computers. Not everything came out the way I hoped which is why I am hesitating on the FCB and Rx. My limited knowledge gets me in enough trouble...

Cryonics - More thrust, but less heat?

The KISS principle is universal. ........ Like I said. This process will likely find the most proponents from those that use KDE, Cobra, Avroto etc. motors and ESC's. Those are serious people and will most likely be the ones willing to go thru a lengthy break in to get the most from...

Cryonics - More thrust, but less heat?

I would say that to break in the motors properly you would have to exceed the 40 to 50 hours of normal bearing life twice ( although the process will extend the bearing life ) before the coils and leads would be completely broken in. Past experience I have had requires at least 100 hours to...

    WTB: F450 Style Quadcopter

Hi John. I just listed a load of F450 parts in the For Sale section. All you need is motors, props and battery.

:)What I did was very much like the first picture except mine was just a straight piece of wood with the motor aiming up and another motor on the scale end of the wood to balance it. I was just looking for something simple that I could get a baseline and repeat. There is no way that P.O.S. motor...

    Wierd science

By the way. To clarify my first post; The thrust I showed for the motors has little basis in fact. I rigged a " seesaw " with a motor on one end and the other pressing on a scale. I just wanted a before and after. Since you have sent this all over the place, I didn't want someone trying to...

I had not thought about the quad racing contingent before. Racing is where most innovation occurs. I hope when they try this that some of them will post their impressions. My thoughts were to use it to increase efficiency. And the disease gets worse............. LOL

    Wierd science

Hey there. I am not an expert on the cryo process but it basically involves bringing material down to very near absolute zero and then bringing it back to room temperature in a series of stages. What I am told it does is more perfectly aligns the molecular structure of the material being...

    Wierd science

I was unsure where to put this thread. I just improved the performance of some not very good motors and it cost more than it was worth. Bear with me here. I'm an avid audiophile and I was sending some cables and components out to be cryogenicaly frozen. This has quite a dramatic effect. I had 4...

    Need information

You have to support your arms and circuit board with something like a plastic or wood tray anyway, so attach a velcro strap to the bottom ( with glue, for example ) and tie your battery to that. It works for 20lb hexa's so I'm sure it will work for a 20oz quad. In the few short months since I...
