trim / fine tune adjusts the quad so you don't have to keep using one of the joysticks. I use mine right off. each machine tends to have its quirks; I trim to get it as level as possible.

here is sort of an example. the one pic (a buddy's neighbor) was taken at a normal angle, the second when I pitched back. can't see anything but trees but you can see (I think) how much further this angle gives the pic.
