    Alien Copter Bee frame kit

Yeah, thanks for the link to that video. I've watched it at least twice, some relevant info there, but my version is different enough to cause issues. That kit had carbon landing legs mounted to the motor arms. I got 4 more of the aluminum standoffs (identical to the ones that separate the...

    Alien Copter Bee frame kit

Now you've touched on a sore point. The kit was from Hobbyking, but I had to go through Amazon (and pay a pricey markup) to get it. I've been going around and around with Hobbyking. They won't accept my credit card payment because they say my card isn't 3-D Enabled, whatever that means. I've...

    Alien Copter Bee frame kit

Jackson, thanks for the reply. That hole pattern looks like it'd be a perfect match for the PDB I received. I'll have to create my own. Please forgive the quality of some of these photos, my cam don't DO closeups. This is the belly of the kit I received. The 3 screw heads right across the...

    Alien Copter Bee frame kit

Just wondering if anyone in this forum has had any experience with the AC Bee 450? Received the carbon fiber kit Friday, and it went together very well. The PDB shipped was similar to ones I've seen on u-toob build blogs, but I only got the ring, and none of the other boards and pins and leds...

    CMOS OR CCD?

fairly warned. proceed at my own risk?

    CMOS OR CCD?

VERY enlightening! great deal for a cam, tx combo, but now I'm even more convinced that cmos is superior to ccd for video quality. While they both seemed to experience a bit of signal weakness here and there, the cmos seems to handle the changing light conditions much better. GoPro cams...

    central New Mexico area?

Looking for local area fliers who wouldn't mind a "newbi" showing up to watch your next flight and ask a lot of dumb questions. Planning my first build, and boy do I have a lot of questions.

    CMOS OR CCD?

TOO funny. Thanks for the tip GJH. Was busy comparing the two videos when I suddenly realized, "Hey! I know this place!" My home is right on the other side of that mountain. The drive passed within a few blocks of my sons house. Crazy! To MY eyes, the ccd seemed to have slightly better...

    ready for first build

that does look like a nice set of motors, and less than $19 ea.. It sounds like they have the cw and ccw threaded prop shafts so the props are essentially self tightening. Have you ever experienced any problems with those specially threaded props? I'll be cruising the forum for prop...

    CMOS OR CCD?

Ok, I'm going for the stupid question of the day here. Can anyone briefly explain the difference between cmos and ccd cameras? Which do you guys prefer?

    ready for first build

:confused:GJH105, I appreciate the feedback, just having some trouble getting used to the forum, reply buttons and such. YOUR posts don't appear like others, perhaps because of your moderator status, but it's all good. I can't think of the name of the cam I've been looking at right off hand...

    Lasic monovision and FPV goggles?

Interesting point, something to consider, and it's obvious there's a lot more research to be done.

    ready for first build

very interesting point. real estate. I will be needing room for GPS, AV TX, etc. Sorry to read about the weak landing legs, seems to be a recurring problem with a lot of designs. I did like the idea of the "dihedral" effect of the S500. Did you find an appreciable difference in handling...

    ready for first build

I hear the snakes in the brain. I'm so anxious to get started I've let other duties lapse while I sat here all week doing quad build research. Filling a notebook with opinions from people who've already been there. Haven't yet got to the point of adding up weight and thrust values. I have...

    Lasic monovision and FPV goggles?

Not worthless. All information has value, sometimes you just have to know HOW to use it. My left eye is tuned for reading and close work, while my right eye is 20-20 for distance, and it's great!

    Lasic monovision and FPV goggles?

I hear ya. I already use reading glasses. I know the fatshark has what they call "diopter" lens inserts that allow some limited correction for individual eyes. I'm anxious to compare that to the Quanum style of goggle that apparently holds a smaller, single video screen a few inches in front...

    Lasic monovision and FPV goggles?

Just getting into the sport and have no local contacts, yet. Great idea though, I'll be researching that possibility. I am leaning towards a video screen for convenience, yet I like the idea of almost total immersion with goggles. Heck, I might have to try both. Thanks for the feedback.

    Lasic monovision and FPV goggles?

I'm wondering if anyone using FPV goggles has had any issues because of monovision created by Lasic eye surgery. Hate to buy something like FatShark and not be able to see well. Perhaps a 7" LCD display mounted to tx would be preferable? Any thoughts?

    ready for first build

I have become addicted by the discoverhd I received for Christmas. Now it's time for something more serious. Not going to race, but want to build reliable, maneuverable photo platform with FPV capabilities. Anyone have experience with the S500 frame? Looks interesting, I'm thinking I want...
