    Problems with vtx wiring

Yup analog vid signal comes out usually on yellow wire from cam and goes into the vid in on the FC. Then like you said vid out from the FC, to vid in on the vtx which transmits whatever vid signal is fed into it.

    Flying historic water tower

Western Springs original water tower from what I hear and is now a small museum for the town, just off the metra train. My quad still has some bobbles in it when punching it out but is dampened compared to what it used to be. Probably in about a month I'll make another setup and build around...

    Problems with vtx wiring

Hello Jonas. You can leave the audio line disconnected, it's an optional thing if your camera has a mic and an audio output then you can feed the audio into the vtx and get that mic noise into a headset on the ground. Mr. Steele is the only pilot I've ever see do this on YouTube and I've never...

general inquiry; drones for long distance, low altitude, lots of trees

Yah there are no guarantees when it comes to signal strength because the answer is it depends largely on the environment which itself can change over the seasons. Basically if you have a directional antenna it will help to focus where it is picking up the signal from and can get quite a bit...

    MJX B5W Bugs 5W battery

No problem. Also the extra mah capacity isn't generally a problem for chargers and a regular charger can still charge a HV battery partially but just won't "overcharge" the cells up to 4.35V.

    MJX B5W Bugs 5W battery

If you are talking about "high voltage" cells ones made to charge up to 4.35V per cell you generally need a charger that "knows" or is configured to charge up to that voltage before cutting off. In general adding a bigger battery won't help much but if it is higher energy density (same weight...

    This forum "Not Secure" ?

Nah it really is the site chrome mobile on my phone shows the warning too. In general best to not reuse passwords but especially don't use a password on an insecure site that you expect to stay completely safe. Worst case so long as it isn't a shared password is someone posts on my behalf...

    This forum "Not Secure" ?

If any site admin sees this and wants help setting up ssl certs hit me up and let me know if using a vps or shared hosting for the server and who hosts and can point you at some options (let's encrypt is free but only easy to setup on vps or dedicated hosting can't easily use it on a shared...

    This forum "Not Secure" ?

Yah this is true the admins could use letsencypt service/app to get keys to secure the server but requires some setup on the server. http (not https) isn't really a major problem but the passwords sent to this site and anything else isn't encrypted in transit which isn't awesome (don't re-use...

What Did You 3D Print Today?

That is amazing looking... Only thing I could nit pick is the blue is a bit shiny for clothes but the skin and t-shirt and overall model really is very well made and finished.

    Compatibility question

Think it should be fine you can dig up the exact FC model and search for receiver model and probably find someone using both but for the most part the receivers and FCs will work fine together. There have been a couple of exceptions where the signal is inverted (highs are 0 instead of 1 or vice...

    BRAND NEW MAVIC PRO PLATINUM

No worries might get some mavic owners who chime in as well but lots of us on the forum here build our own as well so lots more of the DIY style advice or go back to mfg from me :)

    BRAND NEW MAVIC PRO PLATINUM

Would just contact support again but if you don't have one get a multimeter and can check the voltage on the batteries for yourself instead of relying solely on the built in meters. Generally batteries are shipped with 50% charge since they can sit on the shelf at this voltage without damage...

    Open-source drone developer kit

Thanks for the detail and sounds like a pretty great project. Occasionally someone will pop through the forum here trying to figure out how to do this themselves from scratch or using arduino based flight controllers and have had a conversation with a teacher here looking for almost exactly...

    Open-source drone developer kit

oooo I should have looked at this post sooner these are a few of my favorite things :) So is the idea to replace the normal FC based on ARM processor and open source betaflight with your own flight control software and your single board computer will have IMU of some sort? Or is idea to still...

    controller to drone connection

Can't say for sure since I only use Android devices myself. I'm not a fan of Apple as a company so despite making quality hardware they get none of my money :D. The open source and derivative nature of Android phones is a problem in this case but generally creates more competition to do...

    Scratch Build - T-Motor F7 Stack - F7 FC, F45A V2 3-6S 4-in-1 ESC Combo

This is actually pretty normal for any vtx they get uncomfortably hot when just sitting on the ground especially.. This is another reason pit mode exists so power isn't just being bled off and signal unused but if flying the whole time then the heat is just biproduct of amplification of the...

    controller to drone connection

Sounds like the app controls your phone wifi to get onto an access point the quad creates. Sounds like you get fpv view from the phone and separately the control signal is sent from controller to the quads. Apps like this that try to control the wifi are flakey at best in my experience (my...

Back to my good, old, reliable!

Question do you use any sort of post processing stabilization or is that just GoPro in a tpu mount? Looks really good hence wondering :). I've always just used a runcam because I like my quads to stay light and have just found runcam to be acceptable to me for output while learning to fly but...

    Can’t control my drone.

If no motion in betaflight it means the imu has taken a poop, either the gyros or accelerometer (think latter) has died or is otherwise not reporting correct values. You'll likely have to replace the FC, this is a pretty uncommon problem, but the kakute-f7 they do soft mount the imu and use a...
