    Navigational LED's

Depends on the builder. I had a strip of multicolored LEDs controlled by a set of 4 dip switches. There are several flight controllers that support LED control and you can link it to a channel on your radio to switch on, off or have different options beyond those two. Many people have 12v...

    Navigational LED's

They look cool and help sell product. You mostly will see them on racing quadcopters as far as home built quadcopters go. No regulations to my knowlege certainly nothing from the FAA, and they don't follow any standard color or function.

Quadcoptor for 3D mapping of environments.

In the event of a crash you are going to break stuff. No matter how strong the frame you will probably break something even if it is not the frame. Generally the most common schools of thought in this are to either optimize for weight and controlling what will break, or preventing the...

Quadcoptor for 3D mapping of environments.

I would now build knowing it would be that close. Try shedding weight or increasing thrust. Off the top of my head I think you can use a Turnigy Multistar 5200mAh battery if you were to get the 4S1P version. It would shed weight but has a lower C rating so be sure to verify it can...

Continuity between frame and Negative on XT60

Check screws in the motors and make sure the ESCs aren't touching the frame. Pretty much just make sure no electronics touch the frame without an insulator. Sometimes a solder pad sticking down will touch, and if a negative gets shorted to that in flight it can cause a fire, battery...

Help...Thrust faded and not sure why.

What charger are you using? They normally cut off at a voltage for example you commonly see 4.3v cutoff with a 5200mAh limit to prevent accidental overcharging. Batteries usually vary from their advertised capacity

    Motor Problem? possible solutions?

Try not to run them without props. They need the props to add some resistance to prevent them from going too fast and speeding apart and rely on the cooling from the props to keep them cooler. If that motor were lower and your I gain were too high that could cause that fairly easily...

Can someone please give me some feedback on my first build?

If you have OPTO ESCs you'll need a BEC to power your 5v electronics unless your flight controller has that ability.

How to measure altitude on quad

What radio and receiver are you using? FrySky has some fairly easy to use sensors like a barometer for a reasonable price. Also here is an I2C barometer that would work assuming the lite version has an extra I2C connection.

How to measure altitude on quad

Budget and needed capabilities? I take it you want an easy solution that gives a live feed out or would you rather a blackbox type that is not sent down through telemetry but accessible with your flight logs? Also you probably want something that will just go with the gear you have rather...

Quadcopter frame, Lipo battery, motor and propeller size matching table

Looks pretty good though I might suggest that there could be a wider capacity range once you get over 400mm and maybe three separate categories of battery voltage and KV ; a Low Voltage for 1S-2S, Standard for 3-4S and High Voltage chart for stuff like 5S-6S. The start would have to stair step...

One motor will not work. Wtf

I meant in the OP's case not yours.

One motor will not work. Wtf

If another ESC works on the same PWM output then the FCB has done it's job. Better yet if the ESC does not work on the receiver then the FCB is not needed to determine that the problem is with the ESC.

One motor will not work. Wtf

Do you get the beeps when you power it on? If so do they stop or continue?

One motor will not work. Wtf

Bad throttle calibration? Might try another motor under the same conditions, then another ESC in place of the one not spinning. This will likely isolate the problem to just the ESC. It could need to either re-calibrate the throttle end points, change some settings on the transmitter, or...

    Good soldering irons

Weller is a brand that is very popular i that range. I would get one of them.

    Good soldering irons

Generally it is all preference, old timers like the pistol grip irons. I personally like pencil irons. I'd get 60 to 80 watt. 60 watt is good for most things, weller makes some good budget irons. I use a 4 in one SMD station that has lasted thousands of hours of use. Usually keep...

    Thunder QQ calibration?

What flight controller and what flight mode? Also I'd suggest against such test inside, bad stuff will eventually happen. As for the problem the flight mode is important to know what the flight controller is trying to do, it might be a little out of level and be trying to compensate, but...
