Thanks for that, Moz - good stuff to know.
Yeah, looking more closely at the parts and build mentioned in the video Cowboy linked has removed most of my worries about making everything fit.
Wondering if you've got a loose wire either caused by or worsened during your repair job. Others will likely give much better advice than mine, but that's where I'd start.
Also, welcome to the forums.
Thanks again @Jackson - as usual you have been extremely helpful.
Now that I've watched that first video - it looks pretty close to perfect for me. I remember seeing the video before, but didn't watch it because the speed seemed way too fast for a noob like me. After a quick consult with Dr...
A little :D. Kidding of course, just meant that the Painless360 and RCModelReview ones I've watched were getting to be close to two years old.
Watching this one now. Thanks, Cowboy!
You're welcome. I'm sure it will help getting more backers to sign up.
Optimism is the fuel for innovation. Keep up the interesting work, looking forward to your team's progress.
Yeah, I know, I've been chomping at the bit. I like to do a LOT of research before I jump into things that can be expensive. That and I finally found a new job last Friday, so once the paychecks start coming in, I can start buying toys again.
UPDATE 3/22/18
I changed the title of this from Spork's First Build to Spork's Journey because I'll not likely get around to a build for a month or two. The thread has sort of morphed from a build to my new plan of playing with a BNF micro (65mm), learning FPV, and modifying my HS toy quad for...
First off, welcome to the forums and this place is fine for questions.
I have no experience with either of those - so far my readings and video watching has been around the DJI Mavic Pro and Mavic Air models.
As Moz said, plenty of folks around here will likely weigh in on those choices and/or...
You've been at for longer than me for sure. I taught myself to program in BASIC when I was 12 and it's ended up being quite useful for paying the bills so far (well the programming part - not the BASIC part). I did a lot of work with optimization and artificial intelligence 20+ years ago...
Love that chopper, @holtneil !
That's cool stuff, Doc. The Estes rockets brings back the memories of doing that as a boy scout.
Lately, I've been working on some IoT devices (work related) and when I integrated the last one with Alexa (Amazon Echo), it gave me the idea to build a smallish...
Nice. Can't wait to see it fly. I really like how you guys are approaching things, keeping things, minimalistic, and using what you have available to you.
I don't have a lot of spare cash at the moment, but I donated $10 to your indiegogo fund. Good luck raising the money for the parachute...
I think they do a wee bit of drinking too. A friend from my last job just went there to visit family and celebrate. He will be there four weeks. He said three weeks of drunk and one week to sober up enough to work when he gets back.
Chinese New Year. Forget which one, but I saw one of the Chinese sites that said they were shipping orders through yesterday and then the whole company would be off for the next week or two.
I've just spent an hour looking for a pic or video of the Benny Hill scene with the drool bucket, but couldn't find one. Had a lot of laughs that reminded me of watching that show with my dad when I was a kid.
I'm still playing with my cheap quad for practice and fun, and have been looking at the Mavic Pro and Mavic Air - but like you will probably be 3-4 months from now. We've got a beach vacation/family reunion thing planned for June and would really like to have something like for the trip.
After...
My wife likes to tell me I'm the oldest 12 year old she knows - or something like that - I'm not really sure exactly, because like most 12 year olds, I stop listening when she says stuff like that.
