Who, Where and What?.....a bit about yourself.

So far i have no complaints, since they have sent me new a replacement APS-M and GPS receiver, I'm still wait on getting back the quad that was totaled. But i will due a review on them when i have more stick time on them and post it

Welcome!

I'm 29, from Northern California, USA. I got started with quadcopters after getting a cheap RC helicopter for Christmas and getting addicted. I first looked at getting an AR drone, but quickly discovered the flexibility of the DIY type of quads and haven't looked back. I got a couple of friends together and we all chipped in and built our first quad together and crashed it a bunch (good idea to split the cost because it was an expensive learning process). It was a kk board with various frames (Hoverthings, generic, homemade, etc.). Once we got comfortable, we split that group up and now it's just me and another guy (fatjack on this forum). We've been successfully flying a cc3d board on a QAV500 frame for a bit now, but we've got parts on order to build our own copters since we've become pretty decent pilots and aren't too worried about crashing every time we fly.

Hi Guys, Thanks for having me.
I am a 45yr old Quad flyer from Australia. I live on the Gold Coast, in sunny Queensland, the home of MWC. I am flying a home-made kk powered battle quad and a Scarab Stealth Reconn FPV QUAD by Multiwiicopter. I came from heli's originally and i just love the simplicity of these machines. Any locals want to join in the fun, drop me a PM.
Cheers Glenn.
Here's my home field...watch in HD and sub me if you can/want...Cheers

hi all.Iam just trying to figure out if I'm going to be a Quadcopter pilot all. I a, 62 years old and trying to recover from a stroke I had a couple of years ago. Iam paralyzed on my left side and basically bedridden I only have the use of my right arm. so. If I'm going to do this I will have to learn to fly one handed. my wife's youngest son has a small fleet of micro Quadcopters. I just bought him and meSyma X5V-1 quads. he loved his. But I have yet to fly mine By the way,I can't walk either. I have a pronto powerchairI can get around some in,but it's very hardbfor me to get in and out of the chair. So, should I look for another hobby,or an I make this work.I am in south Florida by the way.Thanks.

Hi mate sorry to here this , any way welcome to the forum , I would say that flying a quad with a normal transmitter will not work for you as you need to control throttle on one hand and cyclic on the other, I have seen toy quads that fly off an I PAD, so there is no sticks to hold it all on touch screen , So you may be able to get full control with one hand by using 2 fingers or thumb and middle finger this will work so you can enjoy the hobby your wifes son
There are quads that fly way points but your input would just be on a PC to tell quad where to go , but this is not the flying you mean
WOW just had a light come on , How about a DJI phantom , I will try and explain , the Phantom once in full naza mode will control most of its own flight , your need help to calibrate the compass but as for the flight your be well able
Ok to go deeper into this once the phantom is set up and ready for flight lets say your son helps with battery and calibration so its ready to go ,Now you flick the switch to CL mode ( course lock ) now get your son to arm the motors , they spin when armed you can now use your good hand to throttle up , The phantom will take off, the transmitter on the phantom throttle is sprung the the middle so it will hover with no more input , you can now use your good hand to fly the quad around , if you let go of the cyclic the quad will just stop and hover , so you can now use throttle or rudder , then go back to cyclic again the GPS will hold height and position , the fail safe will return the quad home and land so if you get into trouble just switch on fail safe , your need help to disarm the motors once its down , I really think if your heart is set on this then the phantom is the quad for you , it will carry a camera so you can video your flight , the Phantom 1 is very cheap right now as its the old one , but this will do every thing you want , the new P2 and P3 have auto take off but I do really think you can do this even if you have to get your son to do the take off and landing your still can do the flying part
So what do you think of that idea , it sound great to me the Phantom is the best at this job

the Phantom sounds like a good idea. I am doing alright with the Syma
X5Cin ideal conditions as long as I keep it close to me.Based on the experience with the
X5C,I am going to order a Blade180qx. Blithe the Eflite720P camera.ihave no specific need for a video capable quadcopterbut it might be funThanksmfot theinterest

Hi mate the blades are not as good as they sound so be careful read lots of reviews , its the baby 350qx and that had lots of problems props snapping , loss of control due to interference , and the camera set up knocking out the GPS of the quad

Hello, I'm from Alabama and got started in May of 14. I am totally hooked on this sport! Started with helis but quadcopters are so much fun to fly I have shelved them for now.

Haha, I like it. If someone ask me if I ever played/play sports I am going to say yes..... I fly quadcopters xD.

@Nick is also from Alabama, maybe you two are close enough to fly together a little hahaha (or maybe 4 hours apart xD)

I'm gonna need a bigger battery to fly 4 hours away -_-

If you're looking for someone to fly with in Alabama, just look for a small fire and a guy in a ball on the ground crying :) that will probably be me.
